How Often Do you weigh yourself?
It works for me to weigh daily, same time, usually first thing in the AM, after going to the bathroom. Sometimes after i do my morning miles, will weight again, just to see the amount of "water" I loss during the training evolution. Usually I lose 1.5 to 2 lbs of water, its kind of fun and interesting the see that happen. The bottom line for me is it helps to monitor closely the factors that might keep me from acheiving and working toward my goal.

Getting started.
Found this forum mainly by accident. Seems to be pretty helpful. I need something to help assist me in getting those last 25 to 30 pounds off! LOL. I am Retired Navy, Former Marathoner, but haven't ran in years. I trained most every day while in Service, til the day I retired, then stopped cause I wasn't getting paid to stay in shape any more. But continued to eat like I was training, and boom, gain about 50 plus pounds. And now, continuing to get the weight off. But As I get older, it gets harder to get the weight off. But now, after working on changing my lifestyle of eating, I feel like I am beginning to get a handle on weight control, but The problem I have, is that I like to eat, and love food. Portion control is my problem! I know it, I understand it, I recognize it, but its just hard to not have "seconds, thirds, and sometimes fourths!". So, I am now encorporating an exercise regime to push my body, and increase my BMR to use more calories and reducing my caloric intake at a healthy rate, to average a pound a week. We'll see how it goes. The past few months has been slow and frustrating.
