I'm early 40s, married, no kids or pets. I work in Payroll 4 days a week. I have a very poor relationship with food. I need to lose weight prior to a gallbladder removal operation, but I am struggling to stick to my calories goal. I am looking to this site for support and mechanisms to help me reach my weight goal.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I weigh once a week. I understand my natural fluctuations as a woman over a month, so I just look at my average over the month to see if I am actually losing weight.

Low fat diet due to gallstones
Does anyone else here have gallstones?

I am not sure when I first got them, but I was diagnosed in January 2018. Since then I have had a bit of a nightmare getting the process moving along. In May 2019, I finally got a date for the removal of my gallbladder, but as I sat in the hospital answering a ream of questions, the surgeon cancelled the procedure! He gave various reasons, but the most significant was that he wanted me checked out for sleep apnoea. It was only in January this year that I finally saw the consultant about this & was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome. I was given a CPAP machine that same day and it's going pretty well, so hopefully things will start moving towards a new op date soon.

But to get back to the point, since January 2018 I have placed myself on a low fat diet. I try to only eat things that are 3% fat or less on the whole, but I have recently been eating more things outside of that criteria. Most things I can get away with in small doses, but some things do cause me some gallbladder pain.

One thing I have not eaten is peanut butter. I love it, but would struggle to stick to a small portion. I am wondering if anyone else has had any issues with peanut butter whilst dealing with gallstones? It's a great source of protein & I can't help wondering if I am eating more empty calories as a substitute, so would be better just eating it.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone on this!
