Round 1 of induction bombed at the end. I just threw in the towel from these goldfish cracker-splurge on Wednesday, then Thursday was good, but then Chinese food on Fri, and then the weekend was so so bad!
Saturday: Muffin, spinach pie/hummus/pita chips, taco bell bean chalupa, goldfish crackers, chocolates at a party, artichoke dip and chips, 1 glass wine, 1 cup beer..
Sunday: coffee, goldfish crackers, breadsticks at pizza hut, and then chinese for dinner
MOnday: chocolate 2 pieces, peanuts 1 bag, 8-10 goldfish, and then chinese for dinner (
weight this morning gained by 5 pds!! 145.5
)
Need to start Induction Round 2 again tomorrow!!!! That would give me two weeks until the end of the month. Without that I'll end up eating crap & out of control in New Orleans and on Thanksgiving!!

Found my way to the leftover goldfish crackers from 2 weeks ago!! Had 3-4 and couldn't stop until the box was done! Almost 2 servings (55 crackers each), so like 20-40 carbs???!!!! I had done really well until then and this was the end of the day so WTH was I thinking?? After 8 days of perfect (almost-perfect) induction and the NYC tempting visit, I manage to go and do this quick cheat!! I wanna explore the whys and wherefores a bit...Quick answer is that my best friend got hit with quite tragic news and my emoitional-eating side just slowly took over...i always seek comfort in mindless eating during hard times. Gotta really work on this!!! But there's more to the story as below...
All day I had coffee and cream, garden salad with ranch (3c), 1 bag of peanuts (i know i know!!) (2c), 1 string cheese, 1 omeltte with 2 eggs (2c) and 2 veggie links (1c)...and then I was done. Altho, I kept feeling some vague craving, feeling a little unsatisfied and wanted some kind of snack. Nothing was allowed on Atkins tho. I had been feeling very thirsty all day despite drinking 2 liters of water already; and my tongue was feeling pasty and coated...are these induction-symptoms? was this ketosis? dunno...but with these weird feelings, I discovered the goldfish I'd been meaning to trash. I thought I'd just pop 2-3 in my mouth...but that's a problem right there. 2-3 don't meet the hunger nor satisfy the craving...and then you only want more and more..so it really should be NONE or you're gonna want ALL!! Lesson to be learned here. Also, interestingly, after being almost carb-free for a week, all of a sudden i'm injesting 40 carbs just like that in 2 mins or so, and yet I didn't feel any shock to the system, nor any satisfaction..they were gone so quickly. Almost like, really? all those carbs collected so quickly?? what do i have to show for it??
I got really worried about having jeapordized the entire induction after all the hard work. I read up online what the damage means. I read that such carb-feast would get me out of ketosis for 3-4 days, or feel bloated and crappy for couple of days. and maybe even see a pound gained the next day.
Luckily this morning I didn't gain any. I actually lost 0.2 pds. I do feel a little bloated and my face feels more rounded today. I might be really out of ketosis. The quick carbs-splurge wasn't worth it!!! I HAVE to stay vigilant on such cravings and just ignore the hunger or cravings. I AM surprised to be feeling any hunger or craving at all at this stage--shouldn't I be cured of hunger or cravings this stage in induction?
Well, lesson learned. Mind over matter. No more cheating. More water. No nuts. no other carbs. And EXERCISE today no matter what (I skipped it yesterday).
I started TOM on Tuesday and today is day 3 so if all goes well and I exercise and eat right today, then by tomorrow I should start seeing a loss...here's hoping.

Returned from NYC..with no gain, no loss. Still maintaining the 139.4 from before leaving and haven't seen further loss. But then again, I was out of my element and despite making the best choices and counting carbs, I'm sure it's not as effective as when you're at home. Perhaps not drinking enough water, perhaps hidden carbs in foods I didn't anticipcate, perhaps those pesky nuts that I ate almost everyday stalled me...and also, perhaps because besides a one-hour long hike, I didn't get any exercise from Fri to Tues.
Foods:
Fri:
late night mixed nuts bag (3 servings), morning dunkin donut egg and cheese sandwich with little ketchup, skipped the english muffin, atkins shake, coffee with cream, lunch subway salad with 2 slices cheese and ranch dressing, dinner salad with 1 boiled egg and cheese and lemon juice cocktail (no alcohol, but accidently put some sugar in it), some peanuts
Sat:
:
Breakfast of two egg omelette, goat cheese, veggies. Some nuts.
Dinner: Thai curry with fried tofu, coconut milk, peanut butter, soy sauce etc.; more nuts!!
Sunday:
breakfast: 2 egg omelette with veggies and cheese
coffee with heavy whipping cream
dinner: crustless quiche with spinach, eggs, cheese, and cream; side of spinach/onions/tomato vegetable dish
late night snack: lots more peanuts!
Monday:
breakfast: 1 egg omelette with cheese; 1 slice leftover quiche
coffee with cream
dinner: salad with mozzarella cheese
late night snack: mixed nut bag
Tuesday:
Salad with cheese and ranch dressing; coffee with cream
1 bag peanuts
dinner: salad with ranch; mock duck with veggies (seitan); sesame oil, veg oyster sauce, soy sauce; chilli garlic sauce and some veggies.
Need to get back to the working out mode today. Gave myself an off yesterday to recover from the travel-fatigue, but no excuses today. Also,
NO NUTS
today!! Lots of water too..
I'm only 7 pds away from a HEALTHY BMI!!!!!
Finished a week (8 days) on Atkins induction so far!! Mostly successful except for the nutty-indulgence!!! I should quote Amryk's reminder to myself
"I'm NUTTY enough--don't need no more nuts!!;)"
