I've read that too much protein can stimulate insulin just like too many carbs. Keep tracking and sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for the comment. That's true, too much of anything is bad. However, high protein is a relative term and also for each individual needs. I do moderate workouts 4-5 times a week and in order to build muscles, I need to make sure my protein intake is higher than "normal". Also, when I'm cutting and trying to lose weight with calorie restrictions, it's even more important to make sure that I have sufficient protein to maintain the muscles and not lose them with the fat. Bodybuilding rule of thumb for decades: one gram of protein per pound of body weight (2.2 g/kg of BW) per day...so I'm pretty close to my protein intake target at 150g/day. Higher levels of protein intake is needed, usually in the range of 1.2 – 1.5 grams per pound of body weight (2.6 – 3.3 g/kg BW) per day, when “cutting” to lose fat (that's 180-225g/day). My "low carb" half of the diet is simply to make sure the body doesn't signal to store fat, therefore the "low carb high protein" diet is my chosen route to get fit.
