Sweet potatoes are so much less genetically altered than the others that I'm positive they are more healthy for us just by that fact alone, but I cook them and use them as a portion of a "sweet" additive to recipes in place of sugar to keep nutrients in recipes and keep from adding empty calories. I'll also use 1/4 cup cooked cold mashed in a smoothie to replace bananas as they don't effect my blood sugars as badly but give the same thickening and sweet flavor. Don't like them on their own though, so you have me on that one! LOL 🙋🏻

@Smp - After boiling for 4 mins in salted water, I pan fry them with onion, garlic, salt, pepper and dried rosemary (not too much). We end up with sweet n savoury southern fried potatoes that are a new favourite for me and my wife. You should give them a try....

Do they stay crispy? I've done them in the oven but find them getting soft without getting crisp. Even using high heat doesn't seem to help.

crispy outside and soft in the middle. yummy....

I may try you on that and see if they will replace my hot sweet and spicy chex mix I used to make for flavor! But I would have to make them chips I think. I don't care for the soft and sweet with the potato texture. Have the same problem with Yams and squash; have to eat it mashed and with spices disguised in custards. 🤷🏻‍♀️The tastebuds of a three year old.🤦🏻‍♀️

@smp - Chips sound great, but we call them crisps. I'd imagine it's a case of boil the potato, cool it and whizz it through a mandolin before frying

You can bake chips or crisps on a cookie sheet with a bit of oil and the potatoes don't need to be precooked, just sliced thin. 🙋🏻So I just need to try the savory spices, which I haven't done. I do it on white potatoes all the time.

@smp - sounds great. maybe I'll try that or I have the option of using our air fryer (it uses very little oil). Try the sweet potatoes with salt and garlic. just yummy....
