Where do I begin? How about the toughest part of this entire journey??? The hair loss!! It started falling out two weeks into chemo contrary to what my docs said. 😭 In the month following chemo and proceeding surgery I managed to maintain the weight gain. Surgery went well with all pathology results being negative! Thank you Jesus! During surgery a feeding tube was put in so all my meals since April have been liquid, mostly ensure/boost plus, about 2500 calories per day. The oncology dietitian explained a higher caloric intake is essential for healing. Even with the increased calorie intake my weight has slowly decreased. Radiation eas necessary to "clean up" any unseen disease. It started a month later for 7 weeks. I was fortunate that the side effects from radiation were minimal and at first, not noticeable. Extreme fatigue set in half way through but I forced myself to be active. Last week of radiation I developed the radiation rash, more like a very painful severe sunburn. Three weeks post radiation it's finally starting to heal! Again, thank you Jesus! In the next few months I look forward to learning how to eat and talk again. The talking will be easier than the eating. It's all good especially since my hair has started growing back, and by the grace of God, I'm alive!! 💖💖💖
