Donna Mashburn's Journal, 06 June 2017

OK. So...I'm trying to look at where I am, where I've been, where I'm going and how I'm gonna get there (eventually). I've looked back at my journaling from over the last couple of years, though it's a little hit and miss, and found that I averaged 2300 cals out and 1500 cals in when I've been keeping track. When I log food, I weigh everything and write it all down, so I'm not cheating myself there. I got myself a Fitbit for Christmas to better keep up with my calorie usage. I've learned a lot from that. I finding that the things that worked before the help me lose 35 pounds and keep it off for two years are not working for me now. It is much harder this time. I know that working swing shift for the last three years has had a big impact on my body and mentality. My job has become a big stressor, but surely I can find a way to overcome that.
I have been back to journaling and working out for two weeks now, and while I realize that is just a start, it would be nice to see a drop, even if just a small one. My calorie deficit for the last two weeks is 600 per day, so there should have been some change. I struggled in the past and thought that maybe my deficits were too large, so I increased my intake goal to 1700 but that didn't make a difference. So now I'm wondering if I need to drop down to something more drastic like 1200 per day. I know I would lose weight, but I couldn't sustain myself like that ALL the time. I try to stick with 50/30/20 on my macros--that is what worked the first time. I tried the low carb, but I would not want to do that forever, either. I'm wondering if the Fitbit is over-calculating my calorie usage. I'll try cutting my calories again and keep up the workouts, and just giving it some more time.

I wear my FitBit on my non-dominant wrist but have it set as my dominant hand in my FitBit settings. That's a trick I read about to make the FitBit less likely to overestimate activity/expended calories.
