Not logical... does period really cause weight gain, but why?

Estrogen and progesterone both peak just before your period, and both cause you to retain water- up to 10 pounds of water, I've read. Also, you might crave salty, sugary, and/or starchy foods, which can cause bloating.

hmm, thank you :) yeah it must be true because when I stick to my diet I am slowly loosing weight but when I'm on my period my weight just increases slightly and it stays higher for few days... When my period ends I start loosing weight again, so I guess women should not stress about it too much and not see it as a "fail" in dieting

Definitely. Your weight will also fluctuate as much as 5 pounds over a single normal day just because of the way the human digestive system works. We have to focus on long-term trends and not worry so much about the small stuff.
