Wendy Armitage's Journal, 27 October 2016

I have decided to start doing Keto.

I have been slowly cutting back on my carbs. Mostly potatoes and bread. Bread I never really cared for much. I do love my potatoes so I have them when it's roasted or deep fried (yes I know that is bad). I just have a salad when there is mash.

There is no fruit in Keto. So I am ok with that. I used to only eat the odd apple or banana. Though I do love my strawberries and they are ok in moderation with keto.

However, I recently just received a juicer as a very early Christmas present. I was wanting one of these for a while. And I am now sad that I shouldn't be having any juices what so ever.

My mind is still not prepared to accept this Keto Lifestyle so intsead of going in head first I am taking little steps at a time. And hopefully converting over at a later date when I am fully prepared.

I started off with 100g of carbs per day for two weeks to break me into it really gently, then 20g per day from that point on. You do get used to it, because it opens up a whole lot of other foods that were off limits before. Its the most luxurious diet ever, but it does take planning and thought. Good luck

Good luck with it. My concern with keto is vitamin intake (especially B group and C) and fibre. Some people do get constipated but supplements like psyllium husks are almost net carb free. I am also a bit concerned with the liver and keto. But I do know it works for a lot of people.

I agree with JoMc1970, I just started cutting back to get me in the groove. As it started working the motivation to continue kicks in, about the choices I make. I thought I would miss fruit etc, but everything just tastes so sweet now, taste buds have adapted so far. I am still so surprised by my lack of hunger with this way of eating. Good luck and persevere.

You are going to love LCHF or Keto, but you need to get your head around it. You are not missing out or deprived, you are doing this for you and the more you understand and believe it the better off you will be. This is a lifestyle choice. You will feel amazing and wonder why you did not start this along time ago. JoMc1970 & Phatsista are both right with their comments. Good Luck, stay strong and remember that the benifits will far outweigh anything.

You can do it Wendy. Were all here for you, everyone understands that change is incredibly uncomfortable, but stay focused because you're doing this in the best interest of your health.
