Wrong direction.

I can only assume that my weight gain this week is related to the holidays and to the fact that I started exercising last week. While my "diet" hasn't been wonderful, my caloric intake has been right where it should be, and I FEEL good.
219.0 lb Lost so far: 9.0 lb.    Still to go: 29.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 14 January 2010:
929 kcal Fat: 24.10g | Prot: 24.16g | Carb: 157.68g.   Breakfast: orange marmalade, peanut butter, ezekiel bread. Lunch: couscous, onion. Dinner: Hummus. Snacks/Other: apple. more...

Hi Noah, I had a similar experience when I first started my diet this time last year. My advice is to watch the caloric intake. If you start working out a lot, it's going to make you hungry. Even eating healthy, I was just plain eating more, and exercise doesn't burn nearly as many calories as we think. If you don't watch it carefully, you'll do what I did, and put ON ten pounds instead of taking it off. I kept telling myself, oh, it's muscle instead of fat...but no. You seem really on top of things, so I'm sure you'll be back to losing weight again soon. Good luck!

Hi Monkeygirl, thanks for your comment :) My caloric intake is right where it was. This is new for me, because I've always lost weight solely through exercise in the past. I have neither the time, nor the gumption to spend two (or four) hours a day on the bike or at the gym, though. So, it's calorie restriction for me - and I'm giving myself the holiday excuse (this week). Exercise doesn't burn as many calories as we think, but adding muscle burns more calories while we're at rest, too.
