Tarla's Journal, 03 November 2011

Well I am kind of disappointed with myself this week, because I know I could have lost more but hey at least I didn't go up, so that is a good thing. I'm not going to make any excuses for myself, like I was tired or not feeling well or anything else that I would have said a year ago, this time I will only say that I f*cked up and I WILL make better choices for the upcoming week. After all...

Those who want to do something, find a way. Those who don't, find an excuse.

I'm done making excuses for myself, and letting everyone around me make excuses for me as well. It's time to shine. So I bought myself a new book to re-motivate me, it's called "Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. So far it's really good and it's giving me a renewed sense of motivation, which everyone needs on a weight loss journey.

So my question to all my friends is this... What do you do to help re-motivate yourself? Everyone losses motivation, so what are some ways to bring it back?

I can honestly say I really haven't lost it. I struggle with things, such as food intake and emotional issues, but my motivation? Not really. What keeps me motivated? Looking into the mirror naked. I HATE what that looks like. Find something for YOU that means the most. A pic or a pic of someone you want to look like. Put it on your fridge. leave yourself notes on the mirror. BELIVE IN YOURSELF and BELIVE that YOU'RE WORTH THE HARD WORK. You have done such a great job so far hun! When you get to 299, that will be such an incredible feeling! Keep trudging along and you will find your motivation. You just HAVE to keep at it. You can TOTALLY DO THIS!!! losing 30 lbs is SUCH a huge loss! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Thank you so much Hun! I have never really had any support or encouragement in my weight loss journey before and this time having it on FS feels great! You just gave me the push I was needing, so thank you so much! You are very inspiring to me and I would love to hear more about your weight loss journey so far. I am worth it!!

Hi Taria.... I set SMALL goals... Ones that are easily achievable .... For example loose 5 pound by the end of November ( at the stage I am at now I would probably only set a goal of 3 pounds). If you look at my profile - you can see my goals.... and notice that I achieved them all before the time frame. This makes me "feel good" and gives me a sense of achievement. I now set goals for exercise.... E.G be able to run 5k in 50 minutes by the end of November (that's my latest)- because the last time I did it, it took 55 minutes. The important thing is, to make sure any goal you set is achievable, within a time frame. I think HerStrawberri had a good point - reaching 299 will be amazing - setting a REALISTIC goal, to when you are going to achieve that will be good starting point. Maybe you could reward yourself WHEN (notice I said when, not if) you achieve this. Obviously not food - maybe shoes, a top, some make up - anything that makes you feel good :-)
