Firelair's Journal, 29 October 2011

My scale was acting wacky...showed 177.6, 173.8, 176.4, 174.6...all within 15 minutes! I got fed up and kept the lightest weight, which surprisingly was after my shower when my hair was water-logged. Its as if a ghost was doing squats while standing on my shoulders...which isn't particularly an image I am fond of, since watching PA3 two days ago... >.>

Currently feeling: Frustrated with the scale...
Overall throughout the day: Was ok, I suppose...just trudging along with homework...the norm.
173.8 lb Lost so far: 34.2 lb.    Still to go: 38.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Does the battery need changing?

My old scale would do this from the start. Finally I invested in a better one at Walmart's online site with great reviews, nice getting the same weight every time.

I might have to look into the battery, the scale does get excessive use between my daily weigh-ins (sometimes a few times in the day), my BF's, and my cat walking across / weighing-in whenever someone uses the toilet...but it's only almost a year old (the scale, not the cat)...wouldn't think the batteries would need attention just yet. I also got mine from Walmart after reading reviews, love it ;P

If it is a body composition scale - mine says you shouldn't keep it in the bathroom, because the damp from showers / baths etc mess up the workings - which makes sense because they measure water %. I would guess that goes for an scale - damp cannot be good for its inside workings - I know it is logical to keep scales in the bathroom - but maybe it is worth a re-think and keep them in the bedroom instead. Just a thought.

warped floor seems to make a difference in what my scale says. I just bought the new better scale. Still need to figure it out. I cant wait to use it proper. Good to know about the bathroom.

Unfortunately the only locations in the apartment that aren't carpeted (which I am pretty sure makes a difference, similar to the warped floor example) are the bathroom and kitchen. I should have, but didn't consider the dampness getting to it internally, only considered it affecting the water %, which I haven't been terribly worried about (and haven't considered how to apply toward worrying about water weight, etc). I'll have to try moving it to the kitchen, perhaps...although stripping down to my birthday suit to stand around in the kitchen will be quite unusual ;P
