I'm not having any success with the low carb thing. It causes sugar spikes later after a meal than I had on the regular ADA diet (my insulin pump doesn't work well with that!). The liver is producing glucose from the protein! I'm re-thinking my diet to move closer to the ADA (lower fat, less protein), but, I still need to limit carbs somewhat.
