Katsolo's Journal, 05 March 2024

15,380 steps yesterday due to extra walking back and forth from the repair place. Medium walk with the dogs. Summer jumped face first into a cactus last night and got a face full of spikes. She seems have sneezed whatever was initially bugging her out of her nose, but will need to watch that carefully. Ended up on the bathroom floor pulling them out with tweezers and flashlight. She looks good this morning, so hoping that’s the end of it.

Weight is just holding, probably the lasagna, I’m fine with it. Blob is also holding, so we’ll call it a wash.

Another busy day, so away we go. Press on, press on.

Ouch, poor Summer! Well done on the steps; I'm just totally unmotivated right now, barely moving, though I did get out to vote this morning in our primary (some things do motivate me).

Careful of infection. When i was a kid my uncles hunting dog Spot (yep was actually his name. German shorthair pointer) would play with us in the woods and more than once would come back having tangled and lost a fight with a porcupine. Pulling those quills out of his face was so awful and he would swell up. If i remember i think we used hydrogen peroxide on the entry points. He never did learn. And he always lost. But he was a sweet sweet boy.

Wounds are still looking good this morning. Lucky. When I was a kid, our dog got into it with a porcupine. Pulled a mouth full of quills out with pliers as the vet was more than an hour away and that’s just the way you did things then. Fast forward to today, where one of the questions on next-door was if they needed to take their dog to the vet to remove a tick. Different times, I guess. I’d still pull that sucker off and flush it. Hate ticks.
