I'm finally starting to feel "normal". My weight is back to what I expected I had actually gained and I spent a long week working playing catch-up, doing my usual work, and dealing with emergencies and priorities and they came up.

I didn't record a meal entry for dinner yesterday because we hosted a birthday buffet dinner for 16 people (and could have fed 16 more) and I had no idea how to record a little of this, and a spoonful of that and cooking and cleaning for most of the day. I kept my portions very small and pretty much sampled a few things (lots of room left on my plate). With the exception of a couple of people, everyone made two passes at the buffet. The only complaint we heard was "Oh, I ate too much".

Our menu consisted of turkey, ham with homemade brown sugar/pineapple sauce, slow-cooker baked beans, chowder, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and hash-brown casserole. For salads we had Orizo salad, coleslaw (both homemade) and creamy potato. Then there was a build-your-own green salad with about 10 toppings and about six dressings (one of which was homemade). Finally we had two types of rolls with margarine. Where possible all sauces and dressings were homemade. Then there was the monstrous chocolate birthday cake with a rich icing for dessert (didn't touch it).

Everyone was left with strict instructions that they had to take food with them when they left and they all happily obliged - thank goodness. So, we are left with some leftovers and very little thrown out.

At the end of the evening, I was quite happy to sit back with a glass of wine (or three). And so ends my entry.

Thanks Deb. I rarely have any desire or room for desserts or sweets at the end of a meal. Dark chocolate is my vice, but I normally save that for Christmas.
