Changed up my eating plan. I added a lot of healthy fats like egg and avocado. To be honest I feel crappy because my body doesn't like fat of any kind. I get bad cramps, gassy like eggs and it feels like I ate a box of lax. But it seems to have broken the wall I've been trying to climb over.

Your body will get used to the increased fats; your pancreas will secrete more bile and all will be good!

It took my body a few months to get used to fats, as well.

Funny my pancreas doesn't work well for years now that's why I stopped eating the fat.

But I guess as long as the weight is coming off it doesn't matter how sick I feel or depressed.

I have to use a protein enzyme to eat some proteins and veggies. Eggs, beans of any kind, broccoli and mushrooms to just name a few. I guess I’ve trained my body to manage the eggs this last year but the enzyme is a life saver

You can take ox bile drops. I don't have personal experience with it, but heard that's what people use. You could look into it.

I love fat. But, you may need to adjust the amount initially if you are transitioning. I eat kimchi for gut issues, which seems to help w gas issues, for me anyway.

I thought pancreas issues was related to sugar issues, not fat.

actually, bile is produced in the liver, it's stored in the gall bladder and released by the gall bladder into the small intestine to help the body break down and use fats. The pancreas creates the enzymes that break down sugar, fat and protein in the digestive system, working with bile to digest food. It also creates insulin and other hormones.

All I know is for years every time I have eaten fatty foods I have got sick for days and no energy even when I was huge so I try to stay away from it. I have no insurance and don't go to doctors. I use natural medicine. I had avoided fat because of how I felt after it wasn't worth feeling that way to me.

I understand. Not worth it if you feel sick. I’m going on Debra’s statement now, maybe research how to correct bile issues?

@erika and outer limit…my body took an adjustment period too. Too much fat can give me the “runs”, not enough fat and I’m always hungry. Just enough makes me feel energetic and good all the way round. So, it took adjusting fat in take, playing around with different gram amounts.

Many folks have gut health issues, a good probiotic along with prebiotics will assist your gut biome. Lemon juice or ACV prior to a meal will also assist with getting your digestive juices flowing. If you have gall bladder issues, usually presented with diarrhea and or cramping when eating certain types of food you can increase your bile production by eating liver supporting foods, these include Bitter greens like kale, beetroot, ginseng, dandelion, milk thistle and berries. I spent many many years on low fat diets, when I began LCHF, I had an adjustment period of several weeks before I was digesting fat without issues....I did not ease into as recommended, I simply started eating more fatty meats, bacon, avocado and coconut oil and butter. I was nauseous and had the runs frequently, but it passed as my body adjusted. Was it worth it? Yes, I lost over 100 lbs on LCHF (Low Carb - High Fat) Once my body got used to all that fat, I lost weight quickly and with less hunger.

Good comments. I introduced probiotics into my system several decades ago to help with gut issues, it worked. Did have to try three or four different kinds/strains till I found the one that helped! (Had a bad gallbladder removed at age 20). We ultimately have to find what works best for our body. I’ve learned from information offered, done research and have found insights to help support a healthier me. I understand the difficulty with not having health insurance. Blood work can help keep us on the right path. Resources are available at little or no cost! Tools to support and hopefully keep us in “natural medicine” and on our terms. Keep up the good work Lynn!!
