231.6 lb Lost so far: 0.8 lb.    Still to go: 29.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

So, I gained two pounds overnight. What did I do wrong yesterday? Not enough exercise. In order to lose, you must burn. I am much too sedentary. Why can't I get on my exercise bike rather than sit in my easy chair to watch TV? I really need to change more than just my eating habits.

While exercising more is great for your health, you need to not sweet day to day fluctuations in weight. It is quite normal for weight o fluctuate up to 5 lbs for one day to the next. That why it is recommended to only weigh yourself once a week. Just stick to your meal plan start some exercise but leave the weigh-ins to about 1 a week when possible. You'll feel better in the long run. Good luck on your journey.

Or throw the scale out the window entirely and use a measuring tape. My husband does his measurements once a month then does a photo of himself turned to the side so he can compare month to month progress. I just weigh once a week, measure every other week, and go by the fit of my pants to determine if I'm losing and where. Scales are your worst enemy. Try to find a non scale victory to feel good about and not focus on that evil scale.
