Not that weight gain is immediate but I went over calories yesterday and was expecting to be back at 185 today. Glad I'm teetering a little under 183. :) In the days to come we'll see how things go, this being my first week of calorie counting it might end up horrible. Turns out that my diet is a lot higher than most other people's on the site, I'm consuming like 1000 calories more than the average, I don't understand how people can live off 1000 calories a day, I feel like I'm starving at 1300, and that's just by 5pm. I'll get down there though, as I lose weight I can cut more and more and eventually I could stick with a 1500 calorie a day diet.
Apparently it's too soon since my last entry so extra long post!
My arms are noodles. Sean (my husband) does weight training three days a week and usually I go in the morning and jog while he does that, but upping my work out schedule to five or more days a week I decided to do the circuit with him. Mondays are arms and shoulders. God damn, I didn't even realize I had muscles in some of those places.
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I never exercised, but I did push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, you know, cala... I'm going to spell this wrong, calastenics, not weight lifting. I even played football for several years, yes, on a real team and a high school team as well. But we never did weights unless we wanted to on our own time. And when I did do weights it was always legs, legs, legs. And some shoulders, abs, the usual machines you find. No dumbells at our high school.
First I have to say I was pretty impressed at what I could manage today, being the first day in a few years that I've actually done anything besides jogging. Then we did triceps and he's like, when you lift it over your head flex this muscle here. That's when I knew I was in trouble because I couldn't consciously feel that muscle when I thought about it. I'm a big fan of yoga and it has helped me become aware of most of my body, I'm able to tense and relax nearly every muscle at will, which helps me get to bed at night thinking about where I'm tense and then forcing it to relax. So when he put his hand where I was supposed to flex I was like, "I don't have muscles there!" Needless to say I can't raise my arms above my head at the moment, and this is nearly two hours after the fact.
Tomorrow we run, I can deal with running. Running doesn't cause muscles to hurt that I wasn't aware I had. I like that.
