Well! I think I'm gonna take my first 'cheat day'. What does that phrase mean to you? Do you not record? Do you eat whatever you can get your hands on? Do you do everything the same as usual, except have larger portions that day? Think I'll go with the last idea....

I never have cheat days, sounds so negative and like I’d be doing something wrong. I’m also not in a diet. I’ve always eaten what I want, when I want or need too and just do CICO. Concentrate on protein first and watch my weekly average. Stay active, lift heavy and never less than 10 000 steps a day, manage stress (toughest one perhaps) and always minimum 7 hours sleep, aim for 9 nightly. Drink minimum 3000L water a day… say my prayers, brush and floss…😂😂😂

Crystal, I may be coming across as the oddball here. Please know I am not here to diet or starve myself or do any extremes in the past three years. A dear and trusted friend told me back then when I started to lose over 40 pounds that I should never do anything and I can’t do the rest of my life. I knew I would never do without cake or pie or chips or donuts or coffee or pop so I kept it all within reasonable portions and times. And here I am, 45 plus pounds lost without ever feeling hungry or deprived, have gained muscle and feel better than I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m 47 and feel better than I did at 27. True story. ♥️♥️ I do not support cutting out food groups unless medically required or allergic or whatever.

Fritz, not shallow. Cheats are popular on here but I don’t partake or comment unless asked for my opinion and Crystal asked. 😂😂 I don’t support any extreme dieting or indulging. It’s both messed up. Our culture is all about both and it’s not good. Just eat yo fuel our bodies well, eat enough, not too much, not too little, sleep, move, live. I think we have complicated something that is pretty basic. And I’m trying to live basic not complicated. So far it’s working very well for me. 😊

never done a full blown cheat day. that to me always seemed too much of chance of turning into a cheat week. I've turned cheat meals into a cheat weekenda a couple times so I know for me a cheat day is out of the question. but every Friday or Saturday me and the family have a good dinner. sometimes go out, some times make things at home that aren't exactly 'healthy'. pizza, maybe ice cream. things like that. a few beers, maybe some whisky. but I always tried to keep it within my calories best I can.

I think Wifey is right. if you call it a cheat day then it’s not your normal routine and you have guilt. Just enjoy your day and keep a little eye on the calories, that way you don’t have to work so hard to get back on track like I might have to.🙃 Happy Delicious Halloween Eve Crystal!🌼🌺🌸

I agree Wifey....I feel guilty even saying the words "Cheat Day". Instead, I shall see how it goes if I actually eat my maintenance calories for just one day....How's that? I feel that I may be losing too fast right now. I certainly won't be going out and buying pastries or candy...but I will go ahead and have a teensy bit extra lite butter on my apple bread this morning...and thoroughly enjoy my cup of cocoa. Yes, I will still be logging...but my total may be higher today than I've seen in a while. Love you guys for actually caring 💜

Wifey...I totally agree. I feel I have been VERY strict with myself for over 2 months now...never wavering...and just need to ease back on the reins a wee bit and actually enjoy the ride 🦄 After all....this IS the way I will be eating for the rest of my days, like you said...I just need to learn that 'tweaking' the plan does not mean I'm a failure.

Yfritz....gotta say...thanks again for reminding me that it's important to LIVE!! I've had my head down, with my nose to the grindstone for 2 months now...and I've been successful at losing weight, but I also want to be successful at LIVING AND LOVING AND LEARNING AND ENJOYING. Perspective change in the works, starting today. Now...how bout you? Is there anything we can do to nudge you back to a 'happier' place? A healthier place? 💓

Cheat days are one way to keep your body from going into starvation mode. I upped my calories and my body put the 2 lbs in water weight that belonged there. AND if you plan one (like you're doing) you're more likely to keep the cheat day under control. 😉

@slobbet... that's kinda what I was after. Switching it up a bit to keep my body guessin sounds like a good idea...as long as it's planned! I think that's the 🗝

I figured as much CrystalJo. Just trying to be encouraging. Sometimes I'm not so good at communicating it, though. 😔

I just went into a fog eat right now and might pay for it later.

@slobbet... you are such a dear❤ I thought only of encouragement when I saw your comment...no worries🙋‍♀️ Hope your weekend is going well so far...I plan to watch for the Northern Lights tonight as it's 1 of the rare occasions that they say it's possible to see them here in Washington state AND there's not a cloud in the sky! It's one of the things on my 'bucket list' 🌌
