Started Day 5 of our diet. Hubby always has a snack before bedtime, but on this diet, there is no eating 3 hours before bedtime. He's been so good the past 4 days, but last night he hinted that he wanted a snack. I told him to go ahead and have a pear or some nuts (he prefers bread and cheese with mayonnaise) and that I wasn't hungry and wouldn't be eating anything. He chose not to eat a snack at all, because he wasn't really hungry either.

This got me thinking. I'm always accusing him of sabotaging my diet when I'm doing well on it. Obviously, it is me who is enabling him to sabotage it! It is all about control and determination.

Normally, my husband is the cook in the kitchen, and he's more into starchy vegetables and rice, though he uses a lot of onions and bell peppers in all his meals. He doesn't have very many teeth and his partials are painful, so he never wears them. He gums his food, so he likes his food soft. I have all my teeth, so I miss having to chew.

This diet is more into colorful vegetables: beets, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, etc. Admittedly, sometimes I get tired of all the chewing, but hubby went for a second plate of vegetables yesterday at dinner! That floored me!

I'm still losing too fast, (6-1/2 lbs in 4 days) but I'm sure it will slow down soon. I always lose fast in the first days of any diet.
