madaboutmoose's Journal, 02 February 2014

Yesterday ended up being a tad adventurous. I fasted longer than I intended. Didn't have my first meal of the day until after 2 pm!! Mom treated me to Applebee's as I was taking her to her friend's home for a visit. Enjoyed the Napa Portabella Chicken, one of their under 550 calorie meals, which was actually quite delicious. Also had some soup which in retrospect was a good choice because it ended up being my ONLY meal for the day!!

I was stressed out about being late for my meeting at 3 and ended up waiting until 3:30 for the facilitators to arrive. Turns out there was an accident on the highway at 1 pm ... just behind us!!! Unfortunately a fatality with a hazmat spill which closed the highway for 7 hours. Which meant, I had to detour around the highway to get home last night. So what would typically take me no more than 90 minutes had an extra hour tacked onto it.

Of course when I got home, DH was waiting impatiently for me to arrive ... not only because he wanted me safe and sound but also because he wanted to watch the newest Netflix series we had waiting ... Vikings. Believe it or not I managed NOT to snack!!! He made himself popcorn and I had a cup of decaf tea and water. Who is this woman??? Can I keep her????

I was very excited to get an email from the folks who monitor the calorie calculator developed by Carson Chow (Draglist uses this) that they fixed it so it would run on my version of Java. So I spent some time earlier in the day playing with it ... looking at what my calorie intake would need to be to achieve my goal when I'd like to.

I decided to changed my goal on fatsecret to smaller increments. My ultimate goal is still 185 but I thought perhaps it would be more encouraging to me to have smaller increments to achieve, 10 lbs at a time. Actually, I'd really love to be between 170 and 175 and once, about 5 years ago I had a weigh-in or two at 172. That was awesome. I felt great. Looked pretty darn good too. But when I focus on that ultimate goal I have been discouraged of late because I'm basically starting over, again, something I promised myself I wouldn't do. Anyway, we'll see how this goes.

Making my pizza today and heading over to a friend's house (we don't have TV reception here on the mountain!) to watch the game. Actually looking forward to it ... which is strange because I'm not really a football fan, more of a baseball girl ... but it is growing on me.

I've rambled enough for one journal ...

Grateful today for ...

Being a few minutes ahead of the truck that crashed.
Being able to track my calories and not lose my mind.
Beautiful white snow to brighten up my scenery.
Limbs that work ...
Supportive friends and family.

Take care ... off I go, continuing on my journey of self-care, kindness, and working on staying in the moments instead of worrying about the past and the future.

Very sensible to have smaller goals, that you can achieve in a shorter time frame. I always thought I would like to be in the 150's or at a push 160's, as I had been in the 140's and lower 150's years ago. When I achieved my lowest - which was in the 160's... I looked to thin and scrawny. I think as you get older, you look a better with a little more weight on you... And beat in mind, that if you weight train and exercise, you will have more muscle, which weighs more. But, I guess, we all need to get the, to realise what suits us.
