Katsolo's Journal, 21 March 2021

Swam, cycled and walked 2.5 miles with the dogs yesterday. Ate around 1300 calories. Went to bed relatively early. The reward? LOL, a bump up. Am I upset? Nope. Am I surprised? Not really. It'll fall back down in a couple of days. The bloating I felt yesterday is gone, not sure what that was about, but it's funny that I weighed less on the day when I felt bloated than I do today. Whatever, the body is an interesting thing to figure out.

Swim was a good one. I think I'm keeping the current where it is for a week and will reevaluate. I'm working, and that's what I want. I feel like my form is good. I want the mirror thing that goes on the bottom of the pool for my birthday. I just think it would be interesting to see if I'm as straight as my brain thinks it is. Swim was 842 strokes, average heart rate up slightly to 150, 14 minutes in peak and 10.5 METs.

Plan today is to repeat yesterday. The work schedule is going to be insane for the next six months, so I need to make sure I get all the activity I can whenever I can. FS is going to be my primary tool for keeping me mindful there. I tend to get sucked in and put everything to the side and I don't want to do that. I want to come out of this healthier than when I go in.

Last pic is a sorry attempt at trying to capture a flock of wild parrots flying towards the sunset. They used to hang out in the canary palm one house down from me, but there's a weevil that's taking out all the trees very quickly and the parrots no longer hang out here. Kinda sad. They're noisy and messy, but beautiful. Second pic of them is from my backyard, from earlier, but to show I'm not making it up.

Finally, this past Thursday morning, I heard an unusual airplane noise flying over and I went outside to see what was going on. It was JAL flying the Dreamliner from Tokyo to San Diego. It's a stunning plane and it sounds different than everything else. It's been missing from our local skies for more than a year, almost to the day. I can't begin to express how much more meaningful that sight was to me versus the inane ramblings of local bureaucrats. Things are moving back towards normal. It may still take awhile, but there is light at the end of this tunnel.

Enjoy this beautiful Sunday.

Wild parrots are so cool!!! The body does some interesting things sometimes but you're doing great!

You know, bear, I'm totally cool with it. I'm strong, and I'm feeling as good as I did when I was in my early 20's and I'm focused on improving my performance more than anything. I used to be hyper and annoying, if you can believe it. 🤪 It's gotten me through the plague so far, so I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing.

I know how you feel, except that I don't feel as good as my 20's. Mainly because I've got too many old injuries. Thats so great that you do!!! I'm hoping I'll be able to say I'm in the best shape I've ever been. But thats still aways off. But I'm hopeful! I don't sweat the small gains anymore either! There are so many other markers of fitness and NSV!

It’s funny, i feel as good, but I’m definitely more injury prone. Smaller ones, thankfully, but i don’t bounce back as quickly. That said, my breakthroughs are on a much smaller scale. 🤣
