Happy Flex Friday - I know it's been a minute. There's a lot going on right now. All good things, of course. But, transitions are always messy and sometimes ya just have to toss the balls in there air and enjoy the mess! LOL

Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement provided in the last post about getting the first shot of the pfizer vaccine. To that end, I just received a message from the MS care team letting me know they've already put in lab work orders for a blood draw and anti-body count so I can be tested after the second shot. We'll see if this works on an "auto-immuner" taking immuno-modulatory treatment.

Since pfizer cut the one person from their clinical trials that had an auto-immune, right now I literally am a walking experiment. Crossing fingers and toes the anti-body test comes up 70% or above. I can live with 33% efficacy, but I'm shooting for the stars! C'mon T-cells, work your magic and do your thing - I know ya got it in you! :-)

I didn't weigh in on Wednesday, but it was the exact same weight as Tuesday. LOL - So, no one was missing anything. And, wouldn't ya know I completely forgot to step on the scale yesterday.

Me thinks the Universe is trying to tell me something. I know when my lows hit now. It's Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. So, I may take a break from recording daily.

However...

I get to return to the office shortly after the second dose of the pfizer vaccine is administered and in addition to that, this girl is going to start mixing some things up regarding her workout routines.

I already have "go to" places to eat downtown and I've increased cals twice since I've worked from home. It may be a challenge to hit calorie targets so I've decided to start a "Caloric Savings Account". I already "zig zag" my weekly allotment. Whatever cals are leftover, I just record it and if I need/and or want something a little more or eat something that brings me a little beyond that target - I can pull from "Caloric Savings".

Frankly, it just makes it less challenging so I'm not constantly fussing between pulling grams from one place or adding them to another. If I come up short, I can call it good and just bank'm.

The next is a biggie, at least for me. But, honestly if I were to encapsulate a lot of the fitness goals I have this year - it really is about expanding "knowledge, skill, and ability".

I've taken a 3 fold approach:

-applying TUT when I lift or do strength & resistance (i.e. time under tension, and focusing on form)

-fine tuning breath work so I ensure these muscles can make the most out of the O2 it's taking in without having to produce as much CO2, and in addition helping the body release lactic acid rapidly so this body's endurance is actually extended during reps, sets, and resistance cycling.

- And, most critically, I've been working on approaches to recovery (i.e. increasing deep sleep, cbd, massage gun, hot/cold showers, warm up and cool down stretches)

It's time to integrate these approaches. I'll broaden this explanation later, but for now we'll just say at this point the volume, length, and intensity of workouts are going to be based on the extent of "active recovery" so workouts may not look as consistent as they once were. But, the point is to start measuring and maximizing quality over quantity. This body is more than ready for it. I've already started applying some new approaches and it's making a world of difference.

And, please excuse the goofy look on my face and messy hair - LOL. I had such a good pump after last night's weights session, I had to catch a pic when the muscles were swole. And, for the record these muscles are not always swole. LOL - I always lose the proverbial "pump" by the next morning and then I'm just a wrinkly 47 year old - hehe.

I'm jealous of your arms. I tried to do pull up yesterday really sore today.

@onewhofinishes - believe it not, I don't do pull-ups. Actually, I don't do any overhead exercises with these arms. I have tears on both rotator cups and any exercise where my elbows are going to be parallel to my head is a BIG NO NO. I can do lat pulldowns, rows, flys, bench presses. But overhead stuff is out of the question, so don't feel to bad. And, I'm sore as heck to day as well, LOL. @Hebrews- I definitely say your progress has earned you some shirtless time, poolside! And, thank you br, if I stay centered in the present moment - there's usually not to much to complain about, it's when I let this mind wander we get into trouble, LOL ;-)
