Katsolo's Journal, 28 February 2021

Back to Sunday mornings out on the patio with the fountain and birds. Worked in the yard all day, swam around 7 in the dark. No wind, warm night, pretty good overall. Swim was solid at the new speed. 826 strokes, 10.6 METs, slightly down which means I'm settling into it, average heart rate at 136, way lower than the first time and 14 minutes in cardio with the rest sprinkled around. So definitely improving there. Took the day off from walking, still got in almost 9K steps.

Been eating four eggs, two whole, two whites, extra yolks to the beasts for their coats for about a week now. Easier than the liquid egg whites and probably about the same cost in Costco prices. Just looked at February macros, did better on the protein than I thought at 111g average, ate more - I am exceptional at beating this goal - but I weigh less and am maintaining a full 1# of muscle from January 2021.

Today is all mine. Quarantine issues with BF again, so I might have lunch with mom. Otherwise, yard, work and swim again. I dismantled a couch yesterday. Going to try and save the frame to make a cool outdoor couch to go near the fire pit. That was a lot more work than I anticipated and I got virtually no exercise credit with the rings. Annoying. If I'm sweating, it should count. Period. unless it's a sauna or steam bath and I don't have one of those.

Mourning dove pair I think will end up nesting in my yard somewhere. They kiss a lot. Hummingbird taking a bath in the fountain. This is the male I held a few weeks ago. he's funny. Finally, some boring stats for personal reference.

It's a gorgeous day. Press on, press on.

It’s better, they’re still testing to determine cause.

Love the bird oasis in your backyard. You’re probably the safest Kat they’ve ever been around. 😉

I would hope so. I'm trying to make my yard a bird oasis for them. I enjoy them.

I love the birds too! Mourning doves are so cool! We haven't seen any around here for a long time. We had a pigeon on our deck once. It looked very tired. We fed it some popcorn kernels and provided water and left it alone. It flew away the next day. I read they fly long distances and sometimes need to take a pit stop to rest if something unexpected is encountered on their journey. Prior to this I had not known they love unpopped popcorn. Something most people probably have on hand. I was really happy we could help refuel it for the rest of it's journey to wherever it was going! Great job building lean muscle Kat! You're doing great!!!

Good job on the swim! I love the bird pictures, especially the hummingbird. I used to have many when I lived in a house in the country in my other life. I've put a feeder oit, but no takers yet. Maybe this Spring. We have three kinds of doves here, mourning, white wing and ring-neck (not native, an immigrant, but we welcome them).
