When we returned from our 6 days vacation last Monday, I weighed 6-7 pounds more! I knew I wasn't eating at healthy as I normally do, with bowls of ice cream (and one night's gorge) & unrestrained noshing, altho still keeping to fairly healthy choices. My husband, Khy, made a huge amount of his grilled salmon and I ate on that for a few days!

When I come home from such experiences, normally I weigh more, but the weight drops down pretty quickly - it seems linked to not eating bread. But this time, the weight actually went up for the first 3 days. 155.8 to 156.4 to 157.4! I was feeling pretty depressed in general, and that seemed like a factor.

However, I've felt an inner confidence that my yearning for healthy eating would return, and it feels like it is starting. I've been feeling willing to eat small portions at many meals. I got a fancy smoothie and kale chips at this local place, Love Shack, and ever since then I've been craving that kind of healthy food. Greens, nuts, yummyness.

We're splurging and ordering a week of raw food from a local duo, Raw Grrrls, so that starts tomorrow. I just made baked falafel from a Mark Bittman recipe, and sauteed radishes and their greens from our CSA share and added pesto we'd just bought at the farmers' market. It worked great. (Except Bittman called for way too much salt - ruined my tahini sauce.) I'd like to learn how to cook from farmers' markets and CSAs - so far I haven't, but I think slowly we might be able to.
154.8 lb Lost so far: 13.2 lb.    Still to go: 4.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
