Katsolo's Journal, 02 August 2020

Sat up in the middle of the night thinking I'd forgotten to put the cooked tenderloin in the fridge (I had) but then I couldn't fall back asleep so tired this morning. Good swim last night, but watch counted wrong again, something like 32,382 strokes and I only counted 825 so I went with that. 10.1 METs, but I hit 162 on the upper range of my heart rate so that's interesting. Might be when I stopped/started to rescue what I thought was a bee but ended up being a big bird poop. It happens. Don't want either of them in the water with me, thank you very little. Did bands and batman hands after. I love this time of year. Easy to stay in the water for hours. Especially when there is absolutely nothing else interesting to do. Just sayin.

Edit: I just went and looked at my splits and my guess on the heart rate was right. It was jumping back into a live current and finding my place when I restarted. Two minutes to find my place vs. stopping and starting over.

Ordered the iso paddles because they were $8 and the others were $24. Duh, no choice there really. No straps on them, so we'll see how they do in the current. I'm going to try and make a paddle out of PVC and old pool noodle. they want $50 for $5 worth of materials. Nope. Next weekend, this one is already full.

Curious KATSOLO. Is your Water Weight really in lbs or is it a percentage? My scale shows 64-66% which seems to be in a normal range for me. If I use your "water weight" as lbs and divide by total mass, your % seems too low - around 40%. I've been meaning to ask this for awhile. Anyway, keep up the swimming! Great exercise!!

😂 It’s allegedly really in pounds, but it’s a $50 scale, so i always try and remember that. I drink a lot of water in the summer, so I’m sure it’s off by some amount. I’m also never dehydrated when they use the fancy machine at the docs. I just watch trends. I’m annoyed this morning because i was looking at baby and in the mirror and the scale says fat is up. As long as the pants fit and the shorts fall down, we’re good.

Hahah "baby abs!" 😁 I remember back when I would swim how frustrating and off tack and rhythm you could get when some duffus would get in the way. I've never used a current pool, but it makes sense it could cause things to get out of wack when you have to stop for a moment.
