Little bump, that was the extra cookie nibbles. Maybe I should have swam an extra ten minutes in the rain? All good. Before I forget (again), bumping up protein this week with 2 egg whites added to my regular eggs.

The other reason we went out to the desert is the flowers. It's a little early, but it's a thing out here. Not many good pics due to the rain and staying in the car, but the purple sage is really pretty. Those clouds were so dark, this was about the lightest ones I could find without actual rain in it. Our desert area is so close and has a cool history of boom and bust going back to Gold Rush times. On the third pic, I meant to get a shot of the rock, but the stop sign ended up being the star of the show.

I also wanted to stop and see the giant snake sculpture in Jacumba, but it was raining. We zipped past it before I could get a pic and it wasn't the day to get out for a side trip.

That is an abandoned train trestle near Carrizo Gorge. So, maybe around same era, I can't find the name of it at the moment. There's another one, Goat Canyon, made of wood, that everyone will recognize from the movies. Our desert is full of strange and unusual things.

Same era meaning 1880s. I'm not sure if this bridge was part of the Spreckles railroad line or another one. I just know most of the newer ones are made of cement. I will look it up at some point because I'm tired of being cold and the desert has more sunshine.
