Satisfying workout today. It feels so good coming home from the gym hungry for straight protein (extra lean ground turkey today). Was on an avocado kick for the first month of my commitment, but began to lay off them due to the high fat content (although it IS 'good fat), and also because I eat a whole one, not the "1/5 of avocado" which is supposedly a normal serving according to some sources... not for this kid! A whole avocado with fresh basil leaves just hits the spot for me sometimes, and today, paired with the ground turkey and Newman's own pineapple salsa is one of my favorite simple wholesome dishes these days. Regarding the 'high' fat content - 29.5 grams but only 4.5 of them saturdated fat - so it's important to remember that a food such as this - PACKED with Omega 6, Omega 3, Vitamin K, B6, magnesium, potassium, folate, pantothenic acid, etc., is a far better choice than something with less fat but more sodium, carbs, or fewer vitamins/minerals. It's difficult to find so much goodness in one small, raw, fresh-food product. Had my first look at some of the recipes submitted here, and my eyes bugged out of my head; not the type of recipes I'd expect to see submitted, or 'approved' so always check the nutrtion information for yourself! "Ten servings of parkay and 5 servings of syrup, even if it IS sugar free, isn't worth the 1 gram of protein your getting from that processed frozen waffle that many perceive as healthy simply because it says 'nutri-grain' in the name. Going entirely Fresh, whole, raw, and with lots of protein vs. lots of carbs/fat takes some habit modification, no doubt, but you feel better almost immediately as you make these changes. Good luck everyone!
