the strange journey of losing weight - when you avoid all foods that may cause water retention, have less than 900 calories, and still gain weight!
148.8 lb Lost so far: 21.4 lb.    Still to go: 3.3 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

1388 kcal Fat: 36.20g | Prot: 34.97g | Carb: 220.44g.   Breakfast: Alpro Soya Unsweetened Soya Milk, Green Tea, Morrisons Porridge Oats (40g). Lunch: White Potatoes (Flesh and Skin, Baked), McDonald's Tropicana Orange Juice, McDonald's French Fries (Small), McDonald's Spicy Veggie Wrap. Dinner: Strawberry Smoothie. Snacks/Other: The Foodie Market Cashew Crush. more...

I know that feeling very well. It's a proper kick to the confidence.

Sometimes it's hormones. Another factor is travel, especially by plane - I always put water weight on, but it's gone within a day or 2.
