Donna Mashburn's Journal, 29 July 2019

I've been waiting for this day (in several ways) for a long time. I had my follow up visit with the cardiologist. He was very pleased with my current status. I get to cut my meds in half and don't have to go back for 6 months! I told him I want to lose another 20 pounds before our next visit; he said to bring some ID so he would know who I was! :)

So I have been on a plateau for a month. I used a keto calculator and asked for a 25% deficit to be figured in; the results said I need to eat 1600 calories. I have averaged 1100 calories for many months. I spent the last week or so trying to eat 1600 calories. Got on the scale this morning to the most pleasant surprise--weighed 188 pounds! Finally out of the 190s. YAY! Did not expect that. So maybe I do need to have the extra calories. I have been working out for 50 minutes a day 3-4 times a week. I guess my calorie deficit was too high.

Today was my sister's 50th birthday. I thought she would have the big surprise party, but she said she didn't want that, so her husband didn't plan anything. So I got her some cupcakes and he cooked a big meal. Her birthday, so the food was full of carbs--corn, macaroni pie, French bread, BBQ ribs. Cake for dessert. I partook. I look at it as some things are meant to be celebrated, so celebrate. Tomorrow I will keto again. While some of it was good, I found it wasn't as good as I expected. Just didn't miss it that much. I think the bread was the bestest thing there.

I got my workout done. I am proud with the progress I've made. I've increased the hand weights from none to 3 pounds to 5 pounds and now I'm thinking about going up to 8 pounds sometime soon--at least for some of the exercises. My planks are getting longer and I am doing push ups and such off my toes instead of my knees. The hardest thing for me isn't the strength part, but the stamina part. Jumping jacks and jump ropes wear me down quick. But, even that has improved. Hopefully, as I lose weight, that will get easier. It's not easy bouncing 200 pounds around!

It was a good day. I plan to keto on.
