Simille's Journal, 10 August 2008

Thank goodness I'm still going down, although my poor self-discipline have certainly slowed things. Definitely going back to Phase 1 for a bit while I work out some strategies to ease into Phase 2. I'm thinking about using a trick my mom used when she lost a lot of weight on the no-fat diet, and that was to reward herself every Friday with a small bag of chips and a frozen coke. She said that when she knew she was going to have something she loved it was easier to not indulge during the week. And she said that because it was just a small bag of chips, it wasn't enough to give her huge cravings for everything else. I'm not sure my indulgence will be of the potato variety, because I think potatoes are just really bad for me, but I may try this strategy because I think, as I may have said before, that I don't really consider myself to be on a diet, but to be changing my way of living, so that I will have developed good habits to carry me into the next part of my life.
238.2 lb Lost so far: 6.8 lb.    Still to go: 18.2 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

After you finish Phase 1 you can consider the "free day" idea where one day a week you eat as much as you please and it supposedly keeps your metabolism in balance. Keep up the good work Simille!

Interesting! I have never heard the "free day" strategy before. It cretainly makes sense. It feels okay to cheat a little just as long as one does not go on a BINGE! For example, if I have one Oreo cookie every other day or so, I don't go "nuts" and eat an entire "column" of Oreo's until I have an Oreo headache!
