The only thing that is goingto work is whatever you can see as a lifestyle change and not just a diet! That mindset was the only way I was able to finally drop over 50lbs (although I am in a constant struggle with the last 10 or so). I read you intro and although it just happens to be sunny and 67 (in the end of Oct? CRAZY) and will be 72 later in the week I would kill to leave it all behind for Hawaii. Soke in the culture and fresh clean foods :-). Personally I have found my body response best to a higher protein diet but I could never give up all my carbs. For instance I count my cals, watch my fat and my goal is for my grams of protein to be 2x my carb number. And worse case be sure they are even. Most of my carbs come from nuts, fruit, veggies, dairy, etc. Keeps my meals balanced as well. Good luck and enjoy life on the island!

You can totally do this...maybe try eating whatever you want, but start with a half of your "normal" portion, eat more slowly and STOP when you are no longer hungry. It has worked for me in the past, but only when I take the time to eat MINDFULLY, not mindLESSly.
