Palmreader's Journal, 06 March 2008

Weighed in today and nearly screamed. How did I not lose weight for weeks (months in my mind!!!) and now I am at 301?!?! I am one pound away from my first goal of 35 pounds. It has been since November, but there have been weeks when it has felt much longer. I have read about plateau's and I believe I was stuck on one for awhile.

Initially, I get inspired by the show "the biggest loser", then I get discouraged, as they lose massive amounts of weight. My husband reminds me that I must work full-time, plus be a parent to two very active kids.......I don't have the luxury of a trainer or a kitchen stocked with healthy options. All of this is true, but there are days that I wish that was me.

I will keep plugging away. I don't even know how I will react when I get can on the scale and not have to automatically move the weight to the 300 pound mark and go up from there! That will be a reason for celebration.

It is amazing how weight can impact my mood so heavily. The food journal has also helped. I still don't know if I am not eating certain things - only because I don't want to have to write them down. Not sure if that is a healthy thought process or not. It is another tool.
301.0 lb Lost so far: 34.0 lb.    Still to go: 101.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

That's how my food journal works... if I eat it... I have to admit that I ate it. LOL Therefore, if I eat 2 cookies, I have to tell the world (or my friends, or even just myself) that I did, indeed, eat those two cookies. I don't even pay much attention to the calories other than to see what my daily was, and adjust how much crap I eat accordingly/cut out things that were higher on the calorie intake end, which I hadn't realized. It's just the fact that if I eat it, I have to record it. *grins* It helps me a lot, and I don't see anything wrong with it. Something else that helps if you're a busy person/busy mom is "snacking" on tons of water. As much as you can drink. I lost about 15lbs in 2 weeks at one point, just by drinking water all day, keeping it with me no matter where I went and refilling it constantly. Bathroom breaks went up for a bit (haha) but once my body got used to it, it was fine. What happened was the water made me FEEL full, and gave me "something to do with my hands" if I was at the computer or something. Could also keep something lowfat and small/crumbly with you so that you can snack on teensy fingerfuls as you go about your daily stuff. Like keeping a ziplock baggie of I dunno... granola... cereal... whatever... in your pocket. Even if you go thru the bag by the end of the day, you've eaten it so slowly that just walking around doing your tasks would basically cancel it out. :) Just some tips from mommy to mommy... from experience LAST time I tried to lose. Things that worked before I *cringe* stopped trying.
