Born to be Wild Challenge Weigh-In - Lap 5/6

Well, I think the verdict is that last week's weigh-in was a bit of a downward fluctuation, because it went back up and stayed up there all week. :( SO, this week I'm posting a whole pound gain for the challenge this week - sorry!

I have been really good with the exercise - getting in at least one DVD workout every day so far, thereby meeting my commitment for this week's challenge. However, I haven't been so good on the calorie intake front - I've been really stressed (studying for an exam at the moment) and broke my mid-week ban on alcohol on Tuesday, drinking too much wine, which then led onto too much food... It hasn't been a disaster overall (I've still managed a reasonable calorie deficit), but that's why the exercise hasn't had the impact on my weight loss that it might have done.

The in-laws are visiting this weekend, and we're going out for Mothers Day tomorrow, so it's not likely to be a great weekend for weight loss, but I do need to change something about this stress eating/drinking, because it's still six weeks until my exam, and a lot of damage could be done in that time!! Any suggestions??

CANDLES!! AROMA therapy... hot baths... tea... relaxation... manicure/pedicure. Treat yourself, so that you don't feel deprived and needing to reward or treat yourself with food. One think that works for me, is to buy the next size smaller of jeans and keep them with in sight in my bedroom, so that I can always "see" them waiting for me to be able to try them on!! lol It's incentive that reminds me to be good. A small gain once in a while is completely normal, I feel. You're chart looks GREAT!!! You're hard work is PAYING OFF so NICELY!!! Keep on BURNING RUBBER BABY!!

Aw, Leanne I do sympathise as exams can be such a stressful time. But hey, you can come out of this the other end with 2 achievements. 1. Passing your exams and 2. Even sleeker. ;o) Now yes, you CAN! I'm not going to let you go a wandering on me now... RIGHT!! We ARE going to get to goal this summer, so just keep focusing on that goal. Well, I think Bully has some great idea's there - you've got to ensure that you still have some YOU time. Exercise is also a great stress reliever... so perhaps you can use that here to your advantage and if you do go off the rails... perhaps compensate by doing some more, especially Cardio workouts which will burn you more calories. I don't think there's absolutely any harm in drinking wine... just keep it within moderation and watch those calories. With Weight Watchers, I'd say I'd point them in... although I do look at the calories too, which I'm sure you do too! Now as for suggestions on how you stay off the munching... what about getting some of your old photo's and some new one's, then keep them around you while your revising. Perhaps too, when you do have some time, make yourself some healthy snacks - low calorie soups that you can keep in the fridge and just warm up, when you fancy something to eat... a bowl of salad. Alas, I know not very exciting, but it's something you can just pick at and isn't going to cause any damage even if you were to eat mountains of it! Do you like herbal tea? Perhaps something else you could keep around, if you can find one that you like. I've become rather partial to Twinnings Raspberry, Strawberry and Loganberry flavour - but you can buy a selection of different flavours in Mixed Berry and also Mixed Fruit - 4 flavours in each. I haven't tried the Mixed Fruit one yet, but quite liked the Mixed Berry one's. I find them nicer if you let them cool a little before drinking - but again, they are free calories and drinking something like that might discourage you from wanting to reach for food. Well, I hope that you have a lovely Mother's Day tomorrow and are spoilt rotten! ;o) You have a great weekend and keep up the great work. :o)

Thank you for your advice - I definitely think I should try drinking green tea again, because that seems to have helped in the past. I'm ready to get back on track after a rather indulgent day today! :)
