Fat and weight is just melting off me. I'm currently on a fat burn this week, I love it when this happens. I upped my caloric intake and I'm pretty happy about it. I think I was eating too little before and it's difficult while you are in ketosis because you don't usually feel 'hungry'. I need to remind myself to eat.

Yesterday, I made a pretty mean home made chilli. This is 3.9 Net Carbs for a whopping 370g helping. I suggest maybe eating a bit less than that.

Nutrition facts:

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground turkey
35 g chilli powder
1 bell pepper (or Cubanello)
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 canned mushrooms
2 Celery
2 tbsp grapeseed oil
2 medium onions
2 cloves garlic
14 fl oz Crushed Tomatoes (Note for these, there's a brand called Mutti that is ZERO Net Carbs.)
1 tsp sriracha (or more, depends on your taste, you can even add jalapeno pepper if you like)

Instructions
MEDIUM HEAT (on natural gas stove, may have to adjust for induction cooktop).
In cast iron pot, add oil and onion.
Let onion cook down until translucent.
Smash Garlic. Place in middle of pot, let cook down.
Add meat. Let meat cook stirring constantly to break it down. Let the juices reduce a little bit when fully cooked.
Add crushed tomato and broth.
Add chilli powder, salt, pepper sirracha and bell pepper
Let simmer 1.5 - 2 hours covered, stirring occasionally.
Serve with a little bit of shredded cheese on top.

I make a beanless chili (and ground turkey is great for this) but I never thought of adding mushrooms - that's perfect, a little different texture to add interest.

trackin64, yeah I find that the earthy taste gives it a texture it was missing since I cut out the beans as well. A friend of mine also said that frozen cherries work well and dont carry a taste as a replacement for them because they have the same texture (buuuut I'm not this adventurous!)

this sounds great -- but does anyone have any suggestions about other substitutions for the mushrooms? I'm allergic to them, and obviously, no beans... would carrots work? or just extra bell pepper?

Hermiones Mom, how about squash, pumpkin, or sweet potato? I know these are tubers, but they would add some interest and texture. Carrots are also a good idea. I like celery as well. I wouldn't be above trying black olives either, it tastes enough like a pasta sauce to possibly try!

Thanks -- I hadn't thought about sweet potato. I'm going to try out this recipe over the weekend. By the way -- one of the best spices to use in chili like this is smoked dried chipotles. I use them in green beans too.

HM, you got to let me know how it turns out! I'll have to try the smoked and dried chipotles out. They sound absolutely delicious. john10251 and jmb3450, thank you both :)
