crabby Kat's Journal, 23 January 2016

Hello, buddies and everyone! I'm finally sitting down with the computer; just me, music, and my napping cat Beau. My partner is over at the coast visiting a friend of ours who's staying at a nice 2 bedroom timeshare.

I did my physical therapy exercise (20 minutes of them, have a few more or do) this morning before Zumba. Went to Zumba with Veronica, which is always a challenge, especially when I'm recovering from and injury and haven't danced with her in a long time. I had a sweaty blast, though I'm still frustrated by the lingering issues from my car accident. I have persistent dizziness from cervical tightness/rotations, my ribcage gets all bound up, especially on the right side.

I'm still not released to return to Pilates, since the intense work involved would probably be too much for my challenged body. Sigh. I'm fighting the urge to go to Pilates tomorrow morning, and doing only what I feel able to or I should do. My instructor would totally understand. I'm just not sure that I can trust myself to NOT push too hard.

You know the saying; "it is often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission". That's how I returned to Zumba; tried taking it easy, then seeing my physical therapist after. She released me to do Zumba then, if I didn't do two days in a row. I'm wanting to try the same thing with Pilates, but I don't want to end up with a cervical headache and worse dizziness, rotated ribs and pelvis.... I'm so conflicted, lol.

I gained a little more weight, no biggie. My sister had open-heart surgery, my partner is under work stress, and I was finally able to take my car in for repairs. I'm driving a rental car, hoping that the repairs don't take too long. Driving a Nissan Versa is a bit different than my Kia Rio Cinco, but it's okay. Better stereo, remote locks, power side mirrors, etc.

I baked some whole grain gingerbread breakfast cookies this afternoon, just because I've wanted to, and there wasn't any reason not to. I love my treats, and I love a good homemade healthy cookie. This has good protein, fiber, with dried cranberries & chopped granny smith apple. Mmmm; smells & tastes great. Eating well mostly, with a few notable exceptions.

Oh, yeah! I've signed up for another full day Zumba Instructor Training certification; this one for Zumba Gold. More my speed, and there's a shortage of Zumba Gold instructors. With all the issues with my body, I think that teaching Zumba Gold rather than regular Zumba is a good idea. I'm finally practicing some of the choreography DVDs I've been getting since I got certified in June 2015.

Better get up & do some bridges & lunges before I think about fixing dinner. See you all later.

So sorry about your sister - hope she has a healthy recovery. Take it easy, Kat. Your body has been through so much trauma recently...listen to it and be patient.

Thanks, HCB. My sister gets to go home tomorrow; I hope she makes the transition well. I'm going to take her a bunch of healthy homemade meals I've been freezing for her in one or two portion containers. I took her a heart-shaped box of See's chocolates to the skilled nursing facility she was in. ;)

Oh My Goodness, you have your plate full my friend. I had no idea you'd had an accident (I'm not on here often). I wish you a healthy strong recovery. Trauma to the body can be found and seen in so many different ways. Just take it easy. My thoughts go out to you and to your Sister. You'll be in my thoughts.
