SHIRFLEUR i was getting so excited that i was able to up calories for a few weeks. This darn adrenal failure affecting metabolism is such a bummer. My doc says it is unlikely to repair but nonetheless i keep hoping it will.

Hi Yearofhealth2023, hi, it's Merry Mel. You are under your target weight. You must be chuffed. Might join you one day!!!it's only taken me 7 years to lose one pound 😂🤣😅. I have been up and down all my life. My mother put me on a diet at 11 years old. My sugar intake was colossal, but I look slim but have to put the boxing gloves on every time. Still I have good health and that's the most important of all. Have a good evening. Merry Mel 😍

Thanks Mel🥰. Does chuffed mean happy? British equivalent? When i was in college in Grenoble, France way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth my friend (who was half Spanish half danish and spoke 7 languages-i found him fascinating) said be careful that guy is pissed when we were walking home after a night at the pub. My 27 year old self thought he meant the guy was angry and i said something like, he doesnt look mad. My European friend laughed and laughed and informed me that pissed meant drunk. I still find that funny. By your weight you must be so tiny. Do you still have to be careful of food obsession, or eating foods that may trigger you? I am a sugar addict. Those thoughts are with me daily but in a more mild, wish i could have a hot fudge sundae but it will derail me manner. 7 years for 1 pound is a long time but comical.

Ashley its ok. It could be worse. There for a while i thought i was going to have to live on less than 1000 calories A day. Was hoping to get it up to over 1600 in maintenance. Sigh. Congrats on all the marathoning recognition. So awesome! Proud of you kid🥰

Once you're back to your normal workout routine, you might be able to increase your calories more. I've found I can eat 1700-2000 & maintain. If I'm going up on the scale, I just cut back to the lower range for a few days.

Thanks sherrye, i will keep playing with it. I do know i should put on probably five pounds even tho it says im at goal weight i think im a bit too bony but the emotional part of me is afraid to. So i cut back 500 calories a day and the scale goes down. I wrote on someone else’s post that there were girls on here my age who i was so envious of the 2000 calorie a day diet. Specifically you were one of the girl i was thinking of. You eat yummy looking food and you look super healthy. Trial and error. Will keep chugging along. Thanks for thinking of me my friend.

Thanks YOH 😁 yeah, I'm glad you were able to at least bump up your calories some!

Although you look fabulous now, I feel you could gain 5 lbs. & look just as good. You are taller than I am & we weigh close to the same weight. I actually met my goal before I joined the Gym about 8-10 lbs. heavier. Over time I lost a little more weight. I've gradually increased my calorie intake to maintain at the lower weight. I'll bet in time you can maintain eating 1600 calories. I know when we hit that goal it's hard to allow even a couple of lbs. to come back. Once you believe you are in control it should be easier. For the first time in my life, I feel in control of my weight 😊

You might not have to, try making sure you are getting enough protein (1 gem per ideal body weight lbs) and increase activity!

It is interesting to look at increasing your calories so see where your maintenance can land for sure! I see everyone saying to eat more calories but maybe that worked pre menopause but now it is a tight line to walk! You are doing great with all your challenges and as you start lifting again you will probably be able to add back some calories.

Well crap

I agree with RPL! Menopause sucks and just another thing it does to us. Seriously though, don't forget you are not fully healed and your body is still a bit out of whack. I would stick to lower calories. I know you don't count macros but I my opinion, when you increase your calories if they aren't protein heavy or too processed, you will gain unless you are working hard at the gym. 🩷🩷🩷

RPL-THANK YOU!!! That is the truth. Pre-menopause i was between 1800-2000 calories and didnt calorie count, but i also lifted 5 days a week and either ran 3 miles a day or did 30 minutes cardio. Altogether my time working out in those days came to about 2 hours. Now i spend 1 hour 15 minutes walking which is a little over 4 miles usually 7 days a week and instead of lifting im doing more strength training with trainer that does involve a lot of squats (with dumbbells) and lunges and some dual movement workouts with leg press and inner/outer. Total of 45 minutes twice a week and sometimes just the stretching stuff at home once or twice. So i could definitely bump up the workouts (hubs is ALWAYS and ANNOYINGLY asking me to come do kettlebells with him. That would most likely give me another couple hundred calories to work with. Im just not there mentally. I dont love working out tho i used to enjoy lifting so not sure what happened. I also had perfectly working adrenal glands in those days (i assume anyway). Whew, long explanation. Story made short i should probably do more. I certainly have the time i could……xoxo. CJ-exactly!!!!

Diana, i have played with it both ways. Going heavier on calories that were centered on protein and going heavier on carbs. Didnt seem to matter. Gain happened either way. I do try and get over 100 grams a day now tho doesnt always happen. This past few weeks have been weird. I lost roughly 5 pounds in a week and a half a few weeks ago but decided that was the swelling and then i put on 2 pounds in past week while eating same calories. And have gone back to trainer. It’s baffling.
