RPL its so weird. Struggled to lose weight. Now im wondering, i was 138 day of surgery. 136 two days before surgery. Did he actually remove 5 pounds? He told me it would be about a pound. Im so confused and weirded out. Today i was down again over half a pound. Bizarre.

Good question and maybe he did remove more than he thought. I have no idea but can you lose muscle during this time or is that the reason for the high protein - to protect the muscle and heal?

High protein is to help aid in healing. Body absorbs the muscle and sends it to the damaged area. Probably also to protect the muscle though now it’s been 7 weeks since I’ve done a squat, lifted a weight etc. just walking tho 4 miles+ a day. I have 3 more weeks till cleared to start light workouts for 2 weeks with trainer then back to normal in theory. Im sure Ive lost muscle no doubt about it. Ive backed off of 120 grams to just try and get 100 tho failed yesterday on purpose to see what scale would say today. Today i weighed 133.2. Now in high school i was 128 (minus one year where my food issues started). I was under 130 till i was 22 or 23 but i was starving myself, running daily and lifting weights an hour a day back then. I haven’t been this low for over 35 years. Just perplexed. Did you see our friend Diana’s post today about uscd and how her visit went. Remember her in your thoughts she’s got a pesky respiratory infection needing to be healed up prior to surgery being scheduled.

YOH -- I'm sure your weight will stabilize. Just a thought here -- the amount of protein you are eating is exactly what many of us who are quite heavy - are eating to drop the pounds. That may be why you continue to lose. maybe you need more fat and carbs.

Maybe? Im telling myself to give it another month or so before I ACTUALLY freak out. Isn’t life funny. Spent all my life fighting to stay around 145 or less and the last year literally going to bed hungry waking up hungry dealing with adrenal failure and thus super low calories to have a surgery that maybe somehow jump started my body into burning more calories? Literally i have lost at between 1-2 pounds per week my entire 90+ pound journey often having to bump up exercise or further restrict calories to get even that loss. My body is like, what do you want from me???? Just said to hubs this am that maybe it was time for a hot fudge sundae but unfortunately im not mentally in the space that would allow me to just have that one treat. What a hot mess i am. Thanks Erika and RPL.

What is your calorie intake?
14 Sep 23 by member: -Diablo
Between 1500 and a little over 1800 depending on the day. I never remember to add my heavy whipping cream and the protein muffins are probably 50-75 calories higher than showing. Im in adrenal gland failure so my metabolism is significantly slower than a healthy persons. It’s a bit of a conundrum. Don’t get me wrong if all of a sudden i can start eating more calories without gaining weight that would be fantastic im just baffled tho

Those are cutting calories. Maintenance would be 2-2300. Depending on activity level. Maybe even higher if you're still healing.

Im at 7 weeks post surgery so im guessing im still healing? Only activity currently is walking 4 miles a day and ordinary movements around the house and outside. Think i should up to those numbers focusing on protein sources?

You are doing great!!🩷

If you're already getting enough protein, just eat what you like. Walking 4 miles is pretty active. I've seen girls on here maintaining 120 pounds on 22-2300.
