Don’t think the past few days weight is going to last. The heat is getting to me…it’s 80 degrees at 10 am and just got back from my walk. I feel unwell. My heart has been racing the last two days on the walk so need to remember to wear Apple Watch to check it. Had to stop yesterday and sit for a minute i felt so unwell. Guessing heat exhaustion. I dont do well in anything over 75 degrees the last few years. My husband was so concerned he wanted to get the car and come back for me but i said no. What the heck. I got thru much worse heat last year at over 200 pounds. Crap.

Be very careful as heat exhaustion is nothing to mess with! Plus a racing heart just does not feel good. I don't do well in heat either! I used to walk every day in the winter and summer and my neuropathy would get so bad in my feet and hands. Also the humidity did not help the lung I have scarring on from radiation and I felt like I could not get my breath. I am lucky that once I started lifting weights 3x a week in a temperature-controlled environment and the trainer told me to quit all other cardio and focus on his program I no longer have that issue with neuropathy. I know that doesn't work for everyone but hopefully you can find something that works for you. I know when we have health issues there are a lot of things to take into consideration.

Rpl thank you, yes my lungs felt tight last couple days which happens so frequently i sometimes dont acknowledge it. I feel so much healthier than last year it was just startling to me that i feel so unwell. Im sitting in my air conditioned house now and feel fine again. I so miss the parts of my youth where i took my disgustingly good health for granted while working, going to college, working out and going out. Candle burned from every angle but felt amazing!!!😹😹🙀

What’s your carb intake looking like? With the extremely low calories and if you are walking fasted, it takes a big toll on your cardiovascular. Try eating something simple digesting before your walk n see if it helps. Heatstroke can occur for low carbs people at those temps because they retain much less water. Take care of yourself yoh!

Be careful, I have heart issues that affect me if I get overheated. If this continues maybe check with Dr? Supergainz has good advice. I need to eat before I exercise ( especially cardio) cuz I need the fuel to give me energy.

Well i have a chest X-ray today required for surgery upcoming. (Lungs) and an ekg next Thursday also required as i have an itty bitty arrythmia issue for past 30 years. Stupid little medical issues. Yes, in fairness i usually drink a 30 gram protein shake about 20-30 minutes before i walk and didn’t yesterday or today. According to fs I’m well over 100 grams of carbs and have upped them in the past week or so. Haha.m m i feel like I’m getting advice from my super son and my sis Diana🥰. Much affection to you both. Diana, i have been praying for you am so glad you are on the mend.

Hey super, question for you, what would you recommend I try and eat (no cute animals cows, pigs, etc) just chick/turkey and white fish for animal protein. Im curious? I do really good with water so thats not an issue.

That’s a good question yoh. What a lot of people don’t understand is that there are 3 types of energy your body uses and each has different speeds. Your body needs all 3 to function smoothly and it mesh all 3 together to sorta buffer. Let’s say walking or jogging for example, if you do it fasted, it takes a heavier toll on your cardiovascular especially on a fasted and deficit where your glycogen stores are depleted during your sleep. So glucose is fast energy, your body can use fat but it takes time to oxidize the fat cells to free them up for burning. Normally your body will use the majority glucose at first, then increase your breathing therefore increasing oxygen to put the fat cells to use. But without glycogen stores your body is missing that buffer. So the heart has to pump faster to speed up the oxygen delivery to try n free up the fats for energy. And at higher temps it’s trying all that plus trying to cool your body at the same time. Try half a cereal bar before your walk. Or if you like healthy you could try a banana to see if it helps. And if you have more time you have have some oatmeal with raisins and give it an hour before your walk. As for protein you can have anything you like. Animal protein is more complete than plants.

Also drinking water with low carbs and sodium lvls will not hold water. You’d have to drink often. That’s why the bottled water they add sodium additives to help you hydrate. Best way to hydrate is with juicy fruits. Watermelons, cucumbers, peaches and so on

Some liver twice a week will help you load up on the nutrients you are missing on the low cals too 😏

Don't forget potassium!

Gatorade has these electrolyte drinks in some stores... not exactly how good they are for you but in situations where you need to hydrate FAST, they're a lifesaver. Was at work in the city, saw a kid sick on the ground and gave him my last one to buy him time to get proper medical attention. Best to keep at least 2 drinks on hand in case you spot someone else in dire need of hydration. They do taste pretty salty but if I had to choose between drinking something salty and passing out on the ground, I'll drink the salty drink. lol Heat exhaustion comes before heat stroke, so keep an eye on the heat AND humidity! Humidity is what really dehydrates you. On those days, pack extra hydration because you're gonna sweat a lot! Humidity is actually what dehydrators use to dry fruits, and well... you've seen dehydrated fruit, I'm sure. Hope you feel better soon, check in with your doctors just in case and rest until you're all clear!

Sheesh super i would like to spend 12 hours picking your brain. My husband mentioned banana too. As for liver——no way Jose those all come from cute little animals. It’s all i can do to get myself to eat chicken breasts and ground turkey. I forgot about electrolytes. I even have some in the cupboard. Oops. I can’t eat things like a cereal bar because they are too much like candy and I’m a sugar addict. Thanks metal and Cyrus also. Great info!! Super-my info is probably all from 40 years ago. What had always worked for me before but I forget I’m not in the same body. This body is older and has some medical complications i have to be cognizant of much as i try and ignore them so i honestly appreciate the intel. Think I’m going to spend some time going thru your posts and see what other nuggets of info i can attain from you😘🤪🥰. Much thanks all.

I mean... Wade Wilson still got some action and he came outta that experiment lookin' like Freddy Kreuger. But that's completely beside the point, stay hydrated and keep an eye on the humidity outlook! lol

@YoH: You've mentioned a medical history of Hashimoto's, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. Whether you still have some of these conditions or not, you more than qualify to be referred to a Registered Dietician by your doctor. An RD will have interned in a hospital designing meals for patients with multiple issues. If you find some of these FS suggestions interesting, please run them by an RD first.

Well I never had hashimotos fortunately. I no longer have high blood pressure. My cholesterol has been coming down will see on the 26th what the labs say. Meeting with doc to discuss. Current issues are my pulmonary disease and pesky arythmia and cholesterol aside from mtfhr gene issue, adrenal gland insufficiency and sluggish thyroid. All in all i will take it. Ive gotten rid of the high b.p. And the prediabetic situation and cut my cholesterol in half as of January but still double what is healthy tho I’m predisposed to high cholesterol. I do find these suggestions interesting. I have discovered i no longer have all the answers which is humbling but super true.

I must've confused the Hashimoto's with the sluggish thyroid. Would definitely request the Registered Dietician for help. (No Nutritionists; they're not qualified, as they just take a few online classes and then get hired by a gym to push the protein powder products for a commission). I went vegetarian at 16 and met with an RD at 18 who had worked at a Seventh Day Adventist hospital for a few years, and she reviewed my medical history, had me track my food for a week, and then designed me menus for a month. She explained macros and micros and the best protein sources. Extremely valuable resource.

Yes get in touch with an rd is a great idea. But as with every line of profession... you don’t take your car to a mechanic who can’t fix his own... you don’t learn from an artist to paint like van gogh when his work look like Sesame Street characters... you don’t hire a trainer when you lift heavier than he does and you definitely don’t listen to vegan rd saying plant proteins are superior when the rd looks frail.

Think i will mention to my doc next week. Im feeling very spongey. Want to absorb as many different views as possible and see what will continue to work for me.
