Nidoqueen's Journal, 21 May 2018

Not bad considering I had a wedding and birthday this weekend (neither of them mine, thank goodness). The wedding was a very small affair and the reception was a potluck. I brought a dessert that I could have :-).

Funny story: My granddaughter (age 8) is taking this weight loss journey with me so we often plan meals and snacks together as I teach her healthy choices. We made Cheesecake cups (recipe available on FS) to take to the pot luck. She came up with this brilliant idea... "Grandma, lets make a pretty little sign to put in front of these that says 'Low carb/sugar-free' then nobody will want them and we'll have plenty to bring home!" So she made said sign. At the meal, I had one of the cups on my plate and as I started to eat it, she leaned over and said "Make face like it's not good." This kid seriously loved those cheesecake cups. HAHA Of course, there were also cookies, cupcakes, and wedding cake to distract the others.

Anyway, it worked and I brought more than half of them back home. And they are quite good. We topped them with a tiny bit of cool whip and a few blueberries. They were beautiful.

Happy Monday everyone! And Woohoo!!! The bar by my name is now yellow instead of red. Never give up, never surrender.

@Fishingwidow, if you do, watch the cooking time. The recipe says 40 minutes but mine were overdone at 35 minutes. I'd recommend checking them at 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Kids are so funny! What does the red bar mean?

The bar indicates how close to your goal you are getting. It starts out red and transitions through to green. It goes through an orangy yellow (where I am now, to a bright yellow, to a lime green to a kelly green. It's just a quick visual of where you are on your journey :-)

Good for you!! Those cheesecake cups sound good. I'll have to try them for my next potluck. I think it's great that you're helping her along the way to learn healthy eating. Great job!!
