My body can't decide what it can do or not. So frustrating.

I love WW, but can't keep blood sugar down, no matter what. So, I switch to low carb and even though I was successful in the past, I usually don't make it through induction. So I've been staying under 200 carbs a day for months, but haven't gained or lost, even with exercise.

I am back at doing low carb, and although I haven't entered my food until today, I have made it 6 days, and lost 7 lbs. So finally I think I've got this. Could get my carbs lower, but I'm fine with it, as I am loosing for the first time in months.

I recently bought an Instant Pot (electric pressure cooker). I have used it for 2 dinners, and I love the thing. It is so easy to use and food taste really good and its fast. I had the old fashioned 1 from the 70's, quit using it in the 80s. The Instant Pot isn't as scary. LOL!

Low carb worked for me. I lost 50 lbs in 2013 and as soon as I see my weight creeping back up, I get right back on it. Dr used to fuss at my A!C being borderline diabetic, but now he never even mentions it.

Way to go. We each have to find our own path for sure.

@Draglist I am doing low carb dieting for the last week. The 200 carbs a day was a low fat plan. This was recommended by a dietician. It worked for my husband, but not for me. Thanks for the help though!

260g is the recommended daily allowance for women, having 200g carbs a day is not low carb, it worked for your husband because men have a higher recommended daily carb than women and they dont produce estrogen which stores fat on women, try 100g then down to 50g, you will see results, cut all white bread rice, pasta, cut portions of carbs, increase protein and low carb vegetables, ruled.me, ditchthecarbs.com are good websites to start getting info

I love my electric pressure cooker, it really makes preparing meals so much quicker and whatever meat I cook is always so tender it just falls apart!

I have found that keeping my carbs as low as possible (I’m not as strict as I should be) most of the time, and then every couple of weeks or so having something carb-y will not only satisfy my craving for carbs, and give me something to look forward to, but my body seems to be fine with it. The key is only doing it every now and then and making sure that you really are low carb the rest of the time. It helps trick your body to drop weight if you hit a plateau also.

hi Moondove, If you are interested in continuing doing low carb, please read New Atkins for a New You or the Art and Science of Low Carb Living, both explain why it works. The key is to give your body 4 to 6 weeks to switch over to fat burning metabolism, then find the carb level that lets you keep losing weight. You may find you even prefer eating this way. I suggest that you use the Atkins app to track net carbs - FatSecret tracks total carbs. Don't switch in and out of Low carb, your body loves glucose and will switch you out of fat burning almost immediately, then you have to work to get back to fat burning. Going low carb / Keto has worked for me - and I found I far prefer eating this way. Good luck!

@ tonielise Thank you for the info! I didn't realize that a low fat diet with 200g carbs could stall weight loss for a woman. Since 9/30/17, I have been low carbing, not the net 13 for induction (I have diverticulitis issues), under 50g or less and seem to be right on the mark for 1 week loss of 10 lbs.

@ Britt1975 Yes, it is awesome, being automatic instead of on the stove having to stand over it! There are so many great low carb recipes on pinterest. My sister lives in Texas and we get together online to share food/meal ideas for the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker!

@ mrsroboto I am happy that low carb off and on work for you. That is how I got myself in trouble as I am not as active as I once was due to spine issues. One of my daughters does terrific of 5 days low carb, the 2 days high carbs, but she hikes mountains and does spin classes 5 days a week. I can only do that in my dreams! LOL! She has maintained her goal weight for 2 years and counting.

@ gz9gjg Thank you for the book info. I'll do some research on the 2 books. I agree, off/on low carb got me in trouble more than a few times. I saw others doing it, and it was working for them (then I noticed they were either men, or very highly active women). Thanks again!

The nutritionists try to sell us on the 200 g carbs. All it did for me was to make me crave more carbs.
