OMG! I guess that's what a week on an Alaskan cruise will do to you. I ate & drank sugar and this is the result! No matter, I'm home now and back on the wagon - the LCHF wagon that is :) I went to a lecture on the Alkaline Diet - has anyone ever heard of/tried this? I'm thinking of doing it but I need more info first.

I've tried to eat more alkalising foods at times. I wasn't about to not drink coffee, reduce the dairy, not eat meat or change the meat I was eating though. However I will say that I did my best to make changes to not have certain things or purposely have alkalising foods to balance the coffee and meat more. I felt better.

Yeah, I can give up coffee but seriously - no meat, cheese, eggs or dairy? Basically, become vegan? Unlikely for me

1.9 is a tiny blip. I gained 10 lbs when we went on a cruise last year, lol! Lost it all in about a week and a half when got back on strict LCHF. For me it was worth it, had a great time!!!

You did really well! I looked into the Alkaline Diet a few years ago, after I saw a pamphlet that screamed, "Alkalize Or DIE!". Turns out it's sketchy science, at best. Here's a good article on why: authoritynutrition.com/the-alkaline-diet-myth/

I'm sure the cruise was awesome. When there is delicious food I definitely would have some. Once you return home it's way easier to check how many calories and fat some food has. My example is there was a burrito I ate that was 2000 calories. That wasn't all I ate in the day, but when I know something is extreme like that burrito and I know. I try not to have that everyday.
Incorporating some alkaline foods into what you eat, may make you feel better.

Thanks for the feedback all. mskestrela, I looked up that article and read it - thank you for the link. I think I am going to continue the LCHF WOE while making a conscious effort to make sure my veggies are both low carb and alkaline. Plus I am going to start choosing organic whenever it is available.
