I hope your MIL will turn her life around and you can help shine the light for her. Joining you in prayers. I lost one of my dearest friends - she was only 37 and her 11 yrs old child became orphaned. Her entire family struggled with obesity. Sadly her organs just couldn't handle the stress. These days we know so much more about proper nutrition. I hope your MIL will be open to any advice you may be able to share.

Obesity leads to so many other conditions and truly is 100% preventable. So sorry for your family and praying for a positive outcome! She will definitely need all of you to help overcome her issues.

Thanks Phil for your support, unfortunately she is probably the most stubborn woman I've encountered and her self esteem is probably zero. Even if she makes it out, we're uncertain of the next step. They refused bariatric surgery a few years ago because her heart wasn't strong enough, doctors wouldn't take the risk.

I'm dealing with my stubborn dad, poor old fart recently found out he's got blockages in his heart, kidney, and carotid arteries. His doctors are treating the kidney blockage first, hoping that's the main instigator and moving from there. Part of that is they've put him on the Mediterranean Diet, and he's miserable. But, to his credit, he's realized it's not a choice for him to make, he HAS to do it. Sounds like your MIL could use some psychological counseling to help her deal with her stubbornness issues, she's way too young to give up.
