Pterath's Journal, 03 September 2015

Been a day already. IEP meeting this morning took up a lot of my time. No walk, no sleep after DS was caught up at midnight on his Kindle, after being told at 9 to go to bed and then again at 10 found still up reading. So, today turns into a fiasco. Just as I finally open the shop the school calls and DS had fled the premises and we had to not only find him but return him to the school and find out what happened. No suspension just came home today because he is not happy about not being allowed anything other than Educational use of the I-Pads the school mandatorily issue each student. If I did not give permission for that he would be like a student with no book in the classroom.

I know my son and I was semi-prepared for this to be a big possibility today. I hate being right about it.

Thus, I am mentally and physically drained and not sure I have it in me to care about anything more right now. Praying I do not fall off the wagon today because I am really thinking ice cream and potato chips are needed. SMH I have been good so far and very there is little of these items in the house so hoping it will not be an issue. *sighs*

*breathe, just breathe*

What a stressful start to the school year! I hope that your son can soon find a routine that allows you to breathe a little easier while he is in class. Food is not going to change anything about the situation. You may find a fleeting enjoyment, but then you may feel regret later. Decide what will make you feel the best about yourself. I do not mean to sound judgmental at all--I am not one to pass up the chance to eat chips, even without the issues you face! :) All I am trying to say is be mindful at this stressful time.

Tough way to start out the day; but so good to hear that he was found! While not following the rules is so frustrating for parents, you could silently celebrate the passion he has for reading. We had issues with electronics with our 3 autistic kids, so we had to collect them at bedtime. Oh the horror when they first had to hand them over. To offset the agony, we rewarded them with bonus tickets/coupons that they could use for an extra amount of time on weekends or holidays. Worked like a charm! These times will pass. Take care of yourself. Love who you are. Nourish your body with food that will keep you strong through the rough patches. Junk will just feed the frenzy. Be strong...you Can do this!

I have not succumbed... eggs with cheese and veggies for dinner. I usually could care but today with excess idle time because I was struggling to focus on anything it was those fleeting thoughts that skirt the edges of the mind old habits that wanted to return. Son was here and it was near volatile every time I spoke to him. I have not even raised my voice though I know the tone was there.

Chin up Kelly! Give yourself credit for knowing how DS was going to react and give thanks he was found safe and sound. Breathing is always good...I know you won't really eat stuff that isn't in your best interest and I'm proud of you for just venting the frustration off!! You Go Girl! :D

Good for not giving in to old bad habits. I hope you're situation resolves itself in a favorable fashion.

Hang in there Kelly. I know so stressful. A friend has a son with augsburger syndrome that went through similar things through high school. He is very bright. He is now living in a dorm as a sophomore at college and doing well. Hope things settle down as he begins to understand the limits. I know my friend found keeping things as consistent as possible and consistently enforcing the rules helped her even though it was often really hard to do between Dad's house and hers (divorced parents). She was also in a support parent group that helped her sanity.

Not giving in, but to feel it so pointedly today was a reminder of why I have made changes for the good of self and while my sanity balances on the dagger's edge today I won out. Hoping to move on to tomorrow soon I am dead tired and I pray my son has a better day.

A tough day Kelly, but your at least your boy is safe. I know he has Asperger's, but it's it not possible to explain to him how it makes you feel when he does things like that? Or can he just not think about you when he runs off? Glad you managed to stay on the wagon. Hope tomorrow so be better. Sending hugs!

Sometimes tempted to leave the predictive garbage as it is, sometimes it's quite funny.

Do you have a kindle fire for him? You can set up kindle free time to turn off the kindle at a certain time (i.e. bedtime 9 p.m.) That part is in the free app, not the paid part of it.

There are also kid controls on PC's I'm not sure about timing issue. I locked my step GS so he could not get past kiddie stuff without my password as he was accessing porn on my computer (he was 20 and just out of high school) when he was abusing his access. He was staying with me supposedly looking for a job for a few days. He was here for a month and lying to both sets of grandparents and his dad----he also has learning disabilities.

Rose He does have a kindle Fire I will have to change the settings on it. And I have set times on his comp via parental controls before but a recent update kicked them off and now when I try to set them they will not take. I am still problem solving that issue. Thing is sometimes we give Extra time. I will try and find time to work on these things today. Thanks for all the support everyone.
