Draglist's Journal, 08 August 2015

Slept in and woke at 221.6, so lost 4.6 pounds overnight just through BMR. Will fast until after weights and an hour of HIIT walking/running. Ate over calorie target every day last week. Looked at the Body Weight Simulator tool and confirmed my daily target of 1830 calories per day for this month. Will alternate days of 1335 calories and 1830 calories for the rest of the month to hit that final average calorie goal. Will make additional adjustments as necessary for any cheat days that happen. Goal is to hit the 190s again by September.

Life's ebbs and flows and as Mom says some tough spots. But your're an expert at this Bill, 190's are ahead and it's just a matter of getting there.

Watch your lean mass... since you can. I'd like to know if you're losing muscle by cutting that low. If you are, you're (as I'm sure you know) lowering your metabolic rate.

If anyone can figure their body out, you can! Your numbers prove it. A body does change a lot, what works at one point, doesn't work at another point. The body adjusts itself to make it harder to lose weight, as we all know! I look forward to seeing your next steps. I know you will meet your goals!

So...in a nutshell, what does he suggest? I might check it out for myself but I would like your input.

I'd stick with veggies. Anything with the fiber still in natural form tends to be fine. Stay away from juices of any kind. The fiber has been removed so the sugar goes quickly into the blood stream causing the insulin spike. Starchy carbs are really bad that way too. Most of them begin digestion in the mouth - they break down that fast. The worst offender? Puffed rice. And what's the #1 'diet' food sold? Puffed rice cakes.

100 net carbs or total carbs? How does legumes fit into that picture? I have been hitting some cooked dry beans with NF lately. They are in high in carbs but have fiber and other nutrition going for them.

Thank you. I appreciate your and value your input. I used to only look at total carbs but I wanted to up the fiber.

LOW carbs and no simple carbs seem to be the only way for me. I have been eating lots of vegies just because they are fresh from the garden. I was worried about that but they just seem to flush away (Literally LOL). Have a wonderful day Bill!

Love the fresh veggies, though not enough fiber to reach recommended fiber goals. I tried the gummies but they tasted too good. I always wanted more than one. I bought a fiber powder which I seldom use because I prefer to eat food instead of taking supplements, etc. Might use it again. I'm planning on freezing the beans I have already cooked and work with more low carb this next week.
