A fat bomb is a high fat snack used to get more calories in on a ketogenic diet. Typically around 100 calories they are rich and can stop sweet cravings.
I made 2 different recipes, I had to tweak them for no dairy. One is almond butter, a soft cheese I make from goats milk, cocoa powder, sugar free vanilla syrup, coffee, and unsweetened coconut shreds. The other was peanut butter, goats milk cheese, cocoa powder, sugar free vanilla syrup, and almonds( I planted a whole almond in the middle of each one).
Very rich and yummy. Do NOT eat snacks like this on a high carb diet lol.

They sound amazing! How many would each recipe make and can they be frozen to keep longer? Sorry dark chocolate addict here. :)

Essentially you melt everything together, mix or whip, and put it into mini muffin cups or silicone candy molds to harden in the fridge or freezer. I kept a few in the fridge so they wouldn't be rock hard and put the rest in the freezer. You can google Fat bombs or even search pinterest for a bunch of recipes. They are easy to customize. Lol at Glen, have you never looked up the Ketogenic diets? Its kind of an offshoot of Atkins to help get off plateaus. It's all about the fat.

Saw some recipes online using coconut oil. Do you think they really cut your craving for sugar? I chow down on protein when needing a fix, but would like to try something different.

I don't use the coconut oil my tummy doesn't like it but I find the high fat snacks, any ones, keep me from getting too hungry. When I am craving sugar in particular I usually have some caramel tea with the sugar free caramel syrup. Those fat bombs seem to satisfy both for me now. Worth a try, everyone's different. Some days I really miss honey and fruit.

Yay! Glad you like them, my husband would probably die without these to get his cravings!

I've thought about these and came to the conclusion that if I were to make them, it would trigger my cravings. I've done the sugar-free stuff only to eat the whole damn bag, box or bar. Ghiradelli 77% was a fav and thought I could eat a piece a day. Yeah, right. Could knock off the bar in 2 days. So I won't allow it in the house even if it's on sale. Make sure husband keeps his stash in the garage or shop. Hidden. Will continue hitting the protein. Thanks for sharing Nich.

Anytime. Everyone is different. I don't normally eat sweets so they hit the spot for me. I tell you though I'd kill for some pineapple or sweet melon lol.

Its the keto diet. Once I get to goal weight I will start eating it again just watch portions. I am trying this for a bit to get past a plateau.

Nich... you can't eat fruit or is a health issue? Do love my fresh pineapple and looking forward to summer and the garden. Plant cantalopes and melon. And have peach trees.

This reminds me of this snack I saw on a blog. It was high fat for keto diets. It was called "Fat bombs" or something. It look liked small scoops of chocolate ice cream...yumm... Your recipes sound like a yummy way to get fat in. I need to make something like this. I want to stop eating freaking DARK CHOCOLATE everyday URGH

Lol Panigale thats exactly what they are, fat bombs. Little carbs lots a fat. I am doing the keto right now. They hit the spot for me but others have mentioned they worry they will trigger cravings. But they are awesome for keto.

Oh really? That is awesome.. DO you freeze them? I guess for some people they can cause cravings but I feel like anything rich enough in fat will cause you to eat less of it. And honestly I am battling dark chocolate cravings..if I could make a dark chocolate fat bomb it would be a better way to replace my dark chocolate craving. So this could work for me. BTW how many carbs are you eating for keto?

I am doing more than the recommended because I cant eat dairy so about 30ish but the Ketostixs are saying I am there and I have been steadily losing. The recommended is less than 20 I think.(carbs) I freeze them, the fat bombs, because they are so rich they are like fudge that way. You have to at least refriderate them though or they melt, so no carrying around in a backpack lol. I used unsweetened dark ghiradelli cocoa in mine and they are quite good. The high fat was weird at first but now I am used to it more its very satisfying. I go much longer without getting hungry on a lot less volume of food.

if you peak at my food diary you can get an idea of what the 30 or less looks like.

Awesome. I used to do 20g-30g when I wasn't working out hard. Now I am getting into working out 6-7 days a week and I might start MMA and cardio kick boxing classes with my boyfriend. I wonder is less than 50g is sustainable for that sort of activity level. I guess I have to just play with it. Also let my body get fat-adapted first before I can really judge. I know during the fat-adaption stage you get pretty tired. But let me know it works for you. I can eat dairy- I really should cut it but I love treating myself to an egg omelet from the diner once every weekend after my weight training day. Ill take a look at your food diary to get an idea thanks!
