northernmusician's Journal, 23 February 2015

In preparation for throw back Thursday (something Nicholaix has burdened us with) I thought I'd throw back 3 years. These photos are from summer of 2012. Still miss my beautiful old dog. The last photo was, I believe, spring of 2014. I'm about that weight again now. On the cut to my avatar weight +5.

Did you shoot whatever was wearing that antler you are leaning on?

No. That's an Elk castoff. Once a year they drop antlers (actually usually knock them off... there's some good videos of deer doing this on youtube) and grow them back the next year. You can tell it's a castoff because of the location where it attaches. It's kind of like a little cap with no brim and studs around the top edge, The thing I like about that one is that it will stand on it's own on its three tines.

Nice pictures, looks like a wonderful dog. And your weight loss progress is evident, good job.

Thanks, Jmb. She was a beauty. So gentle. I love gentle dogs that are big enough to make people think twice. Tika has much the same temperament. Soft mouth, quiet, smart - everything I could have hoped for except for when she vacates the premises. Still working on that. She's only 6 months.

aw! cute puppy! I so wonder how big my pitbull terrier mix puppy is going to get. I have a tiny morkie now, but I missed having a larger dog! I am just nervous about training, she is 12 weeks now.. I got her to learn sit. But she is a bit vocal :)Your Tika is a cutie though!

Ohhh, I'm going to participate in throwback Thursday this week. You look a lot younger than you did when you were heavier. I have been told that holds true for me as well, but it's interesting to see in someone else. Love the landscape too, what a beautiful place to call home. :)

@Panigale1199, do you have a dog park? Once she's got her shots (if you're doing that) get her to one. Have people over as much as possible. Get the dog socialized. Tika says hello and then goes her merry way. She's excellent. I'm convinced it's because of a week with my son's dog and the number of people who come to our place. She doesn't feel threatened because nothing is out of the ordinary. @Yolanda9179 :) I've got a picture of me in my younger days set to go up as my avatar. It should get a laugh too, even though I look dead serious in the photo.

We do have a few around us. Once she has her final shot I will be able to take her out. She has been with my 1st dog (the morkie) since we got her. The Morkie likes to say hello to other dogs then runs away however she loves all my moms dogs. She also loves the pit. But if I bring her to a dog park she always begs me to hold her!!! I am hoping with my pit rescue, the morkie will be more open to dog parks and being around other dogs (she is amazing with people and kids though)

I'd leave the Morkie home until the pit gets it figure out. Once that happens, Morkie would likely stay with the pit. Tika played with a little girl around 3 or 4 in Edmonton at the dog park for a few minutes. I loved to see that.
