Char Gets Thin's Journal, 06 January 2014

Well, here we go. Weekends are always a hard time for me, the hubby is home and doesn't really enjoy "diet" meals, so I tend to get a bit carried away with what I cook during the weekend. But it's now Monday, so we're back onto MY kinda food! I've got dinner all planned already (other meals are a cinch for me, it's dinner that's my downfall) so IF I can just keep outta those danged pretzels tonight (my OTHER big downfall) I should start to see some downward movement on the scale this week.

Also have to start getting more movement into my day. We found an online war strategy game that we're really enjoying, but I find it's taking up so much of my time that other than a 3-5 mile walk with the dogs in the morning, 90% of my time is spend on my butt in front of the computer monitor! NOT good for a diet, OR my heart, OR my muscles, or any other part of me! So I have to get back into that "get on your feet and move at least 5mins every hour" schtick I used to do when gaming too much! lol AND get back into my kettle bells, those gave me such a sweet workout...LAZY, that's what I am, just plain lazy! :(

Wishing one and all a healthy, happy, OP Monday! :)

nooo...don't call yourself that, or yourself will hear you say that and yourself might believe it...lol...You just need remotivated, and sounds like you are trying to do that, positive self talk helps you believe in YOU. Because YOU CAN!

Yep, I know how games can consume your time, that and just old TV itself, leaving very little time for ourselves to accomplish what we really need to do. When it comes right down to it we just need to push ourselves away from things like the TV, table, computer, and all else that is a time waster. I don't think we need to cut out these things all together, just limit ourselves to a certain time to spend on them. If you are like me in those areas, it's a matter of discipline, yep I said the "D" word, and not necessarily laziness.

You are not lazy; lazy is a choice we make. I know you will get back on the exercising bandwagon, and once you start itll be smooth sailing. :-) Have a great day!!

I so know what you mean about the weekends being tough on the diet, but my hubby is finally giving me a little leeway. He can be quite a food pusher. I'm luck though, he's a good cook, so when I'm really not cooking what he wants he'll get in the kitchen. hmmm - that makes me think perhaps I should never cook what he wants LOL. Hope you have a good day!

There are lot's of ways of lightening up regular food (and he won't even know). You just portion out your own food. Some awesome sites with lightened up recipes (he won't know the difference) are: Laaloosh.com, Cookinglight.com, Emilybites.com, Skinnytaste.com, Skinnykitchen.com, Slenderkitchen.com

Yep, dinner - or at least the evening - is my weak spot, too, Char. I can be so sensible all day - a little porridge for breakfast, a salad for lunch, even a healthy dinner. Then my resolve seems to disappear and I manage to convince myself that five handfuls of nuts and a bar of chocolate are not really fattening. Once I've eaten that, then I find myself in the fridge raiding the cheese box - and a bit of chutney or pickle goes so well with cheese... the only answer for me, really, is to have absolutely nothing in the house - an empty pantry, an empty fridge. But then my husband isn't too happy! Although he has adapted to buying food each day and cooking his own meals. Aren't I lucky. Good luck everyone.
