So sorry I dropped off the planet for a bit. Just one of those life tornadoes.. where work and home collide.
Anyway,... I'm leaning toward going more low carb... I don't know if it will be keto or just stay away from bread and pasta for a while. I can tell it's working just this week... I don't feel as bloated. And I know it's a bread thing because I went to cracker barrel last night to have dinner with a friend... I had grilled fish green beans and carrots... and a biscuit... I thought I was going to curdle then and there... If I had left that biscuit alone I would have been fine... It took everything I had to get home. Thank goodness I felt better this morning. I'm still not par though... I couldn't finish my protein oatmeal. I had maybe half. Don't know if that a good sign or not.

A few questions... for the low carb / Keto crowd...

I keep hearing that the first week or two are the hardest... Whats something to look out for?

Cravings... what do you do when you can't get bread out of your head?
Learned my lesson w/ Cracker Barrel... if I'm having a hard time with bread don't go somewhere they hand it to you on a whim... yesh.

Any resources you found helpful w/ keto would also be a plus.

Thank you!!!

Thank you ! This does help... it's still a bit experimental... but if it works and it's a life style that can truly help me then I want to try my best.

Biscuits, pancakes, pizza, pies etc. The list never stopped...I certainly was a high carb person. Fight the carb thing with a handful of tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.). Stop at the handful, they are calorie dense but satiating. Does stop the carb cravings for most people and curbs it for others. If you do eat them before going into a restaurant it will be easier to pass on the high carb foods and keep your overall food consumption down. Plus you get to take home half of your meal for the next day. Portion nuts into snack bags to keep with you. Those 100 calorie packs of nuts fit nicely into your bag, desk drawer, wherever! Good luck on the next time you eat out.

Read up about the benefits of tree nuts. There are some good articles in MSN Health.

I agree with the cold turkey method. The faster it is over the better. The cravings are gone pretty fast. I did get headaches & leg cramps at first so make sure to stay hydrated & get enough salt. Good luck!

To overcome cravings get three mental pictures: (1) One of how you'll end up both aesthetically and health wise if you fail to get a hold of your heath. (2) What impact you deteriorating heath will have on loved ones. (3) How wonderful it will be to finally achieve your desired goals. Love yourself, love your family, and don't let something without a brain control your life.
