Especially if person number 2 ate 500+ calories after the -300 cardio (aka torture) :p Then they’d have a 200cal surplus

Eating back your workout calories is among the most ridiculous things I've heard in my life for someone trying to lose weight. My thought is why bother to workout to burn calories just to turn around and eat it back?

t ann... okay so u never eat again after u workout?

Eating in a deficit=weight loss. The problem I've seen is the amount of calories actually burned is usually highly over rated.....

@Cutefattii, it is not about eating after a workout, it's about calculating how much calories burned and then eating it back in addition to your daily calorie goal, whether you eat it right after or throughout the day. So using the example in the picture, if my body needs 2000 calories a day. Some people say oh I worked out and burned 600 calories so that is an additional 600 calories I can add. It doesn't make sense, why workout just to eat back what you burned? I workout mostly in the morning so I almost always eat after working out. But I eat at the same deficit everyday. I won't go for a hike and say, I burned 400 extra calories I can eat more than my regular deficit. I would just have a greater deficit that day.

@t_ann19 precisely. I thought you were saying its dumb to eat after you've burned calories off. It's all about calories in versus calories out ;)

I just stick to my RDI and whatever calories l burn off is to my favor.

T_ann19 my slim (has always been slim) husband has been going to the gym for the past 10 yrs to "eat whatever I want"... so for some people it is worth it to workout 600 calories n stuff themselves 😋 throughout the day 🤷🏻‍♀️ It works for him

I now would rather not eat those 600 calories 😏

You're right Rosio19, for some people is worth it. And I'm all for people doing whatever they want to do. On another note though your husbands situation is a little different from what we were talking about. In his situation he is not trying to lose weight, if didn't eat back some of those calories he would probably lose weight. But I think you're on point with that example thought, because he was trying to maintain, which wouldn't work well for someone trying to lose weight. But it all varies on several things including deficit and calories burnt and stuff. The best thing for anyone to do is what works well for them. If it is working, I say keeping doing it. If it's not working, we should probably reconsider what we're doing. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" unknown, some credit it to Albert Einstein

Yes it only works for him cause he is not trying to loose weight, sometimes he feels blotted but he knows with cutting back on soda he'll get a flat tummy within a week 😒
